Hey /vr/ are you better at retro games now than you were as kid? I feel people normally say they were better as kids (more time to practice, etc) but I've been playing some old games lately and I feel like I'm much better now. Maybe it's just due to all the practice I've had over 20+ years of gaming.
Is there a game that you didn't finish as a kid but easily beat now as an adult. Pic related.
Better than as a kid? Yeah.
Better than when I was 18? No.
I'm way better in racing games than when I was a kid. Also in Street Fighter 2.

This. Getting older not only made me slower, but now I have giving carpal tunnel. And having more demands on my time as an adult means I don't get enough sleep anymore on top of that.
Definitely better, only recently I was able to beat games that many people consider "omg so hard" (mainly side scroller action games). It's because I'm more patient dealing with games now, whereas it seems like many people get more impatient as they grow up. IMO this is related to how many modern games you play, these tend to make gamers lazy from what I've observed. I've stopped playing modern games in 2008 so I haven't suffered the side effect.
Conclusion: modern vidya is cancer
About the same.

OP here. I definitely agree modern games are piss easy these days but the experience I've gotten playing games like the Souls games has definitely helped me beat some older games I couldn't as a kid. A lot of tough games become much easier when taking thing slow and taking the time to really learn enemy patterns.
I got better at some games but worse at others.
Much better. I have much more patience than I did as a kid.

Way better. I was awful at games as a kid, i'm a million fucking times better now.
I am probably better due to the fact that I don't switch games instantly when I get a game over and don't play it for awhile. Usually when I get a game over I play it the next day instead of like a few days, or that I can buckle down a bit more to get results.
Due to my habits as a kid regarding video games I just didn't spend enough time with some games to really get enemy patterns or level layouts down so I could progress further faster.
