What fishing games did you love back in the day?
I played two on the DC with the fishing rod controller. Never 100% either game, but I had fun.

I'll never forget the fucking background noises birds and bugs made. There was like a BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ noise, I assume it was suppose to be a bug.
Black Bass for NES. Was cool to connect with my fishin' fiend father through a video game.

Two games come to mind, not sure what they were though,
The first was played on the PC and when you hooked a fish he went YEEEEEEHHAWWWWWWWWW. the game was a view from the front of the boat looking into the water.
The other game was for the PS1 and I remember the backdrops being so amazing and realistic, like they were a photo and you were casting your line on top of that photo. Then when you were close to a fish it would change views and you would see your line in the water and the fish swimming towards it and you adjusted the line and what not.
Really fun games, often overlooked.

I played the SNES game as a lad - it wasn't bad, had some decent sound effects and some okay mechanics, I'd love to try the NES predacessor

The entire Blass Bass series is awesome including and especially The Blue Marlin spin-off. The whole Sega Bass Fishing series is also great. Fishing Derby for Atari 2600 is another really underrated fun game. There's also one for Wii called something like Fishing Resort which was pretty cool.
Outdoor sports games in general are really underrated. There're some really cool hunting games as well that are done light gun style. And some target shooting games are really fun though those are less common.
Best thing I remember was the soundtrack.
Sega Marine Fishing is great.

Ocarina of Time
fisherman's bait 2 is still the best for me, perfect arcade gameplay and super fun multiplayer, used to play the shit out of it with my family
