Either way, by hitting up PC's the author is going for low hanging fruit. There was an endless supply of shovelware and poorly made amateur shit for just about every PC platform, C64, Amiga, ZX Spectrum, you name it. You could make entire websites full of thousands of pages dedicated to them and still have thousands more to pick from.
At least this has some articles/interviews with some industry people.

I got the book for christmas and while I really love Ashens it was quite a disappointment due to various reasons:
1.You can write "plays horribly", "sounds terrible" and "looks awful" all you want but as long as you don't witness those things yourself like in his videos it will mean next to nothing.
2. It's short as fuck and the number of pages was padded out by the extensive use of large images - if those reviews were videos they'd be over in a minute or two.
Not to mention that like half of the 190-something pages are nothing but names of backers and greetings.
3.It would've been nice if it dug deeper into the technical details of the games like with SQIJ! where they showed parts of the ridiculous code or had interviews with some of the programmers behind those duds.
