Which retro Terminator games did you like? I loved the Genesis version of the arcade game. I got it for Christmas and it came bundled with a light gun rifle and played the shit out of it. I remember the level where you had to cover the SWAT van from the T1000 in the helicopter being hard as fuck.

I also played the side scroller, which I didn't like because I could never get past the first level. It wasn't until years later that I found out that you had to press up at the phone booth to complete the level. Then again, I only had the cartridge and no manual, so maybe that's why.

That, T2 Arcade and the Mega CD game are the only ones worth playing.

Robocoo VS The Terminator is fucking sublime.
I prefer the SNES version.

I also liked The Terminator (SNES) where you play as Kyle Reese. It had pretty cool sound design. I remember it being hard as fuck as a kid, never beat it then, prob could now, hmm.

anyone played this one?

It was shit but it came installed on my 486 (along with prince of persia, doom and others) so I played it quite a lot. I don't think I ever got past the bike stage.

I played Terminator 2 pinball today. But it had LED lighting, which I think is a modern replacement. And sadly it was PWMed, including the general illumination. This is seriously missing the point of pinball. The great advantage of pinball over videogames is the extremely high framerate (real life effectively runs at 18548712000000000000000000000000000000000000fps). But the PWM didn't look any faster than 200Hz, so the display is effectively reduced to 200fps, which is nowhere near high enough for a game as fast as pinball. It looks really bad in comparison to DC general illumination.

I also played a Twilight Zone with beautiful incandescent lamp illumination, or at least a convincing enough fake. And that is a better table than T2 anyway.

have you tried breeding OLED kois as a replacement?

Microscopic fish based LEDs would have the same problem as normal LEDs. Depending on the exact LED driver it might be as simple as putting capacitors across the LEDs.

First game that popped into my head. I'd like a remake but only if they didn't fuck with the difficulty.

Playing as Kyle Reese kicked my ass when I was a kid and I'd love to take a crack at it again but without any kid gloves.

SFC edition idle by a superscope is most fascinating.

One of these days I gotta give that game a chance because it sounds really cool.

When it comes to Judgement Day I always thought it had some neat concepts like the non linear objective based levels but the execution was god awful.

Yeah, with Future Shock they did put a bunch of Bethesda formula stuff into the game that feels familiar in Fallout 3 like exploring urban ruins and looting Bethesdas office building.

It was also ahead of its time with the vehicle section and the hit detection at individual body parts of the machines can give you all sorts of benefits like destroying weapons to render enemies almost harmless.

I never played it, but it was similar, except with SVGA support, and 320x200 res had bugged me quite a bit for some reason. That one particular setting bugged me, 512x384 felt fine, 360x280 or 360x360 was rather alright, 320x400 wasn't too bad, just the completely basic one bugged me.

After seeing Skynet in a higher resolution I kinda like the more low res resolution better since you can't tell just how crude the 3D models are.
