Listening to Link's Awakening OST right now. Not the super-best of the Zelda series, but has some gems. What's /vr/'s favorite tracks in this game?
Tal Tal Heights seems like the easy answer, but Southern Face Shrine is my top spot.

that song that plays when you go looking for your sword!

According to my MP3 listing, that one is just "Koholint Island". Then you get the sword and afterwards "Overworld" plays.
Here's a playthrough that showcases that transition.

The overworld is a nice one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdargMzqueM
Dream Shrine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNeQ-72KwEQ
Southern Face Shrine is my favorite, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py0IVtf621Q
Face Shrine is a good follow up to the previous song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izx8CGifKhc
Mount Tamaranch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4NkDABWYI8

It's called Sword Search here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w76fAVzemk

For other people's reference, Mt. Tamaranch is what I (OP) called Tal Tal Heights. Quite frankly, it seems to get quite a lot of names (Tal Tal Mountain Range is actually what's on the MP3 listing I'm listening to). Its most likely "Mt. Tamaranch" tho.
Dream Shrine tho. Listen, I can get the feeling its going for. I can understand what they were trying to do. But I don't like Dream Shrine. It just sounds like uncoordinated garbage. I mean it sounds almost as bad as

And that one is supposed to suck.

I think its the best Zelda in the series. It looks great for a GB game, it has a good story with a touching end, and some iconic elements.
BTW, 3d Zeldas aren't my thing.

this, along with mabe village and inside the houses
la's main zelda theme is also better than the alttp version btw

Links Awakening is great, but the Oracle games are an improvement in literally every way, from the music, to the overworld, to the dungeons and everything else.

I keep hearing that, I hope you guys are right and I'm not disappointed.
I doubt they'll have a better story/characters than LA, but we'll see. I hope the overworld and dungeons are actually good if you say they're better than LA.
Only shitty thing is that I know you can't get the true ending without owning both and using the link cable.

You can enter a password instead of linking the games.

The story is classic Zelda (you know, kingdom in peril, damsels, Ganon etc) and as such is nowhere near as memorable as Link's Awakening. Music is great (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGyPovhzKMs, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0EumkAeEAo) but I think Link's Awakening is also better in that regard, too. The gameplay is a major improvement in all regards though, you get amazing items, overworld exploration is great with seasons and time travelling, and you can equip rings for both wacky stuff, combat enhancements or self-imposed challenges. They have tons of content,
You don't need to use the link cable and you don't need to own both. When you beat a game you get a password to continue the adventure in the other game. Since they came out there's been a password generator program online that you can use to create a password that'll let you get the true ending in a single game. But I'd definitely recommend playing both, combined (as they should be) they're the longest, fullest and best Zelda games IMO.
One of my favorites is the track playing in the very first forest:

When you learn the island is a dream or Marin when she sings with me.

The best of LA music is phenomenal but I think average Oracles music beats average LA music. Dungeons for example are way better.
