One interesting & underdiscussed aspect of FF2 is the decay of unused skills. Regarding flaws, however, there is the fact that stat gains don't take effect unless and until you unequip & re-equip equipment.

I would point out pedantically that there's another FF2 thread >>2878451 however the poster of that thread (like yourself) didn't bother to put the words 'final' or 'fantasy' into the OP, such that a catalog search would pick it up. (Only ways to find would be to also try ff2 after trying ffii or to simply look at each individual thread).

Whenever the character in slot one, Fironiel, has magic cast against him by an enemy, it counts as a white magic cast BY him, rather than counting towards his Magic Defense counter.
This renders Frioniel a natural choice for White Mage and little else.
