I remember going to Toy R Us on my 11th birthday to get StarTropics.
>TFW getting stuck on the code that required you dip the enclosed manual in water to reveal, which is totally counter-intuitive and confusing
>No GameFaqs to tell you what to do
I spent an afternoon trying every code.

Ah, I was so excited to play this when it came out... and yes, it was a great game to play as a kid. I must've been 10 or 11 at the time.

Demon's Crest.
I started it today and deeply regret not being all over this sooner. It's incredible, definitely ahead of its time.
Other Monster World games too, but this is the easiest and the prettiest one, probably the perfect game for a kid.

Nintendo 64 is for 3d games, why would I play a stupid 2d game?
X-Com, HoMM, Fallout, System Shock 2, Deus Ex. All great games I heard a lot about, but never got a chance to play back then.
