Who /Strife/ here?
>>
>>2873654
I've been meaning to play it for a while now. I probably will once I finish Duke3D Nuclear Winter.
>>
I treated the game like it was just typical Doom, despite all of the changes, and went completely unprepared to the last boss.

Needless to say that when playing on a high difficulty level using the fully upgraded Sigil against the final boss WILL kill you unless you brought in healing items.

dat moment when you rebel thief and cannot correctly speak to that npc

Childhood fap.

This game was awesome.

The comet struck our planet without warning.

Yeah this was a pretty cool game. A bit dreary, but cool. I always loved the setting-people-on-fire system. The world layout is cool too. And some of the areas have a nice sinister atmosphere, where you feel like you're really getting into something deep and heavy.
>>
>>2874491

That's not exactly hard to do, anon.
>>
This game is everything about DOOM but better since there's an actual adventure.
It's really challenging too and has kicked my ass repeatedly.

It's like 2000AD meets He-man. So it's pretty fucking cool.

Best Doom engine game ever.
>>
>>2875569

Yeah that actually may have been the peak of the game for me. It's so weird, and that weapon is so powerful.
>>

the remastered version is awesome, never played this game before, bought it for 2$!

>Complete the 'Trust No One' demo on Bloodbath difficulty under 6 minutes
Are you allowed to save while doing that?

Played it after its release in the 90's & preferred over Doom/Quake/Heretic/Hexen for actually having a plot & objectives, nice to see them on the map but the sewers can still be quite confusing to navigate.

Also, were some 3 talismans added in the Veteran Edition?

What the deal with putting things between slashes? Is it the local equivalent of hashtags or something?

Because what, comets usually issue out explicit warnings before they happen to strike something?
>>

Hi Rogue
>>
>>2879503

Well you might see one coming.

But maybe this one was like cloaked or something? I dunno. But anyway it wasn't a completely ordinary space rock, the game's plot seems to tell us that much.

Always kinda sounded to me like you'd need to strafe a lot.

Well yes, that would indeed come in handy.

No entirely, though they are very telescope-able if they're orbiting, but usually they don't pack a destructive payload.

THAT job is generally reserved for asteroids.

>Who /Strife/ here?
what a great fucking game

its one of those games that makes you think that some of the early videogame creativity was lost in the process i would have to sit down and think for a while to pinpoint exactly why...
>>
>>2885470
So it goes... Luckily we still have nostiage (and games) to go with it instead of mindless mayhem.

The sewers ain't that bad after you get accustomised to them
>>
>>2885332
A tendency to act abnormally friendly and get overly interested in my surroundings, maybe?

>>2885404
Perhaps a bit worse.

I'm >>2873705 and I've been playing Strife for a while now since I've finished Nuclear Winter a few days ago.

I think that the free roam and rpg elements are pretty interesting, but they're pretty basic and it all comes down to the jrpg levels of choice. Either you accept the task you're given or just decline and be stuck with nothing else to do to progress besides coming back to that NPC, accepting the task and pushing the story forward. There's also the fact that Strife, a game that was running on the Doom engine, came out in 1996, the year that brought us Douk 3D and most noticeably Quake. While it was a pretty interesting venture into the rpg genre, it felt incredibly outdated compared to its competitors at the time. It doesn't mean that it's bad, it's a pretty interesting game, but I can see why it was overlooked at the time.
>>
>>2885604
Maybe the best thing about it wasnt the gameplay (altough there were some interesting stuff in there)

but the history

something about it, it was a combination of dark, intriguing and creative that wasnt repeated...

it seems to me that at the dawn of videogaem history they still got inspired from god tier literature to make videogames

but nowadays the plot of videogames is less than hollywood tier
