Just got an Philips MSX2 and a Megaflashrom and dsks i'm dling aren't working.
Looking for good copies of dsk games including:
-snatcher english translation
-aleste 2 (don't know if there is a translation?)
-sd snatcher translation
Not really sure if my megaflashrom is handling dsks correctly.

Nice grab.
WOOMB did a translation for Aleste 2, but like their Xak patch it's not out in the wild. You can find SD Snatcher disks on Internet Archive (TOSEC) + the Oasis patch on romhacking.net, but I don't have Project Melancholia's re-translation.

What a qt, the master system versions didn't have cute grills like that.

Her name is Elinor. I think she's also in GG Aleste and MUSHA

I think they removed her from the american versions

the first disk just seems to be this really impressive intro but when the game asks me for the second disk my megaflashrom isn't doing its job properly

I don't use Megaflashrom or BlueMSX, but I think BlueMSX set a convention of {Filename}N.dsk.
By the way, if you boot Aleste 2 with the demo disk, then the difficulty is set to Demon (hardest). Instead launch with disk 2 which starts at the easiest difficulty (and if you hold Select while booting disk 2 you get a difficulty menu. Press Shift on music 0 to exit).

Thanks bro any idea when the game will need the 3rd disk?

When you go from Area 4 to Area 5.

I can't get the shift thing to work

Does it not play music either? In game you can also use Shift to shoot only the subweapon when you want to conserve ammo. It's hardly ever needed though.

do you press it while still on disc one?

No, you don't use disk 1 at all until you watch the scene at the end of Area 4 (if I remember correctly).
The procedure to enter the music screen is to boot with disk 2 (instead of the demo disk) while holding Select. And then use Shift to exit.
But note that you don't need to enter the music screen at all if you just want to play on the easiest difficulty. Just boot with disk 2.
