Have you considered dropping the wall of links and have an actual discussion instead?
>>
>>2855880
I'm not the original OP. Was missing the thread so took over the whole OP text just with the next Nr and edition. ;)
>>
Oh hey it's back. Was just trying to post to this a few days ago and mention that I got started on the EVO PC-98 translation.
>>
>>2856994
Nice, when finished where can we find it if this thread get's lost again?
>>
Bumping.

>>2855880
Why did you even post this? This is just shade-throwing.
>>
>>2855880
fag
>>
>>2858458
Because I hoped that one day we could have a decent thread about Japanese computers again instead of this bullshit.
>>
Has anyone done FM Towns emulation? Some CDs work but others just give me the "System is different" error even if they both have the OS on them. Is there anyway to figure out which system the CD is designed for if its a problem of which specific model I'm trying to emulate?
>>
>>2857984
I think it'll just go up on romhacking.net or something. It's going to be a long while since there is quite a bit of text in the dump I received and I'm just translating when I have spare time. Almost got the first scenario done though.
>>
>>2858503
Out of curiosity, are you the same guy that did that MSX thread? I'm sensing the same level of butthurt about the /jpc/ general threads. Is it because you're not running the show?
>>
>>2858653
No, I personally don't care much about the MSX.
But I can't imagine it was worse than this thread.
>>
>>2858596
Only emulator for FM Towns I know is Unz. It always worked for me, every CD game is selfbooting. The default settings of the emulator will work just fine (FM Towns 1.2 16Ghz, 8mb).

Exactly what games give that error?

can't pass this part.
>>
>>2858674
Have you contributed anything to this thread besides complaining about it?

If no, get out. Stay out. You're the cancer that's killing /vr/.
>>
>>2858745
I'm trying to offer helpful criticism.
For instance don't make a thread if you have nothing to contribute yourself, unless it's a request on /r/.
>>
>>2858681
I mounted the CD and then booted up MS-DOS but I can't figure out how to properly boot into the towns OS from the CD ...

tried running

DM.BAT
DOG.COM
TMENU.IF2
DICUTY.COM
RUN386.EXE
T_OAK2.EXE
CONTROL.EXE

none of them booted into the OS
>>
>>2858887
(from the CD that is, I can get access to the CD just can't boot up into the OS cause I'm stupid)
>>
Well... any word from that anon that had that mystery CD?
>>
>>2858770
kill yourself faggot.
>>
Hey, hey, hey—don't be mean.

>>2856042
Ty for reposting. I didn't have a new banner and links ready for a new OP when the old thread died.

>>2858961
No, but Anon will hopefully return with progress or abdication, who knows.

>>2858721
I'll play up to this point tonight and see what the matter is.

>>2856994
Excellent!
>>
>>2859007
Welcome back!

What game is >>2858721 playing, btw?
>>
>>2858887
But what game, every one I tried booted straight into the game. Have you tried other games? I have seen CDs that boot the OS but not the game, but then you just run an .EXP file and the game starts.

Note: Xak: The Art of Visual Stage seems to only emulate well through XM6 typeG. It's a pretty good audiovisual upgrade, more like what Algarna should gotten in terms of redrawn art.

I played up to this part. For the boss ahead, make sure you're well-to-do on lives (I recommend keeping at 2 and then getting the 1up in the castle's west puzzle, skip the east puzzle to save time). Low-tier powers like the fireballs aren't that useful against the enemy's attacks, get the hawk or stars.

Very fun game. I need to give Totsugeki Mix! a shot too.

Also just played it(not finished yet). But indeed a really well done clone with a lot of potential for sequels. Sad this never happened though.

New PC-88 fileset just came out from Tokugawa: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=15604#p15604

It has a bunch of doujin stuff I haven't found anywhere else (mainly D.K. Dragon Knights which you can't get from Tsukka Soft's site anymore (or the Wayback archive)) + screenshots to let you identify any oddly-titled games. They should all be .D88 files, too.

I couldn't find an answer anywhere, but are NEC PCs cross-compatible? Can I use PC-88 software on a PC-98?
