Probably have to say this as well. I know it's a common choice, but SMB3 is just a really great game.
Git Gud: The Game
For anyone else who likes this style, the NES had a few other titles in the same vein. There's Battle of Olympus, Castlevania II, Faxanadu and Zombie Hunter. Although not RPG-ish, 8 Eye's, Getsu Fuuma Den and Frankenstein: The Monster Returns may also appeal to Zelda II fans.
