The tamagotchis im looking for are japanese only, but it seems like its possible to patch them to English. Is that true or just internet bullshit?

My Tamagotchi Gameboy trilogy arrived from Japan this week if anyone is keeping up with my "epic" quest. Of course I intend to start on Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi Osucchi to Mesucchi but I haven't gotten a fresh CR2016 button cell battery for it to be sure that it's staying active even when the Gameboy is turned off. Once I get that done, it'll be time to start memorizing the Japanese menus. It was easier on they keychain half my life ago.
Willing to post pics if anybody actually gives a fuck and these are something more than just joke/mild nostalgia threads.

This one let you choose from 8 different types of pets from the start, and the mini-games were genuinely more interesting.

I had two Tamagotchi, a Digimon, and two Giga Pets, among others. I fucking loved virtual pets.
