Pic related is perfect for me. Can sort thousands of files by system, genre, year or whatever. Doesn't even take up space in my house.

Google drive spreadsheet.

Totally customizable.
Games by tab

There is stuff like backloggery and shit but I find the simplest solutions to be the easiest.

I'm very intrigued

I found that pic some time long ago, It had something to do with person wanting to play shmups on ps1 with Saturn controller idk
>>
Check out "GoodTools", "TOSEC", etc. These are tools that have a cataloge database of old games and rename your roms automatically with sane informations.
>>
I just look at my shelf. I try to only collect games I actually play so it's unlikely I'll get a collection of an unmanageable size (600+)
>>
>>2826572
I found this searching around: http://vgcollect.com

Reason I found it is because I'm building a similar thing in school now (as a project in a course). I doubt my thing is ever going to become as good as that site though, maybe more light-weight I guess...
>>
I just photographed all of my games and draw a line through them whenever I beat them or sell them.
>>

my guess is that its just a extension rewire of ps1 buttons to megadrive, and then manually attached a vga15 pin connector or a serial 9pin or whatever.

not that complicated if you think about it, follow the paths from button contact to a component that goes thru the board and just solder the wires on the back, if the is room ofc.
>>
backloggery.com is a pretty decent site for cataloging, in addition to its intended purpose of track which games you've beaten or not.

I've been using RF Generation ever since IGN's collection page went to shit who knows how many years ago.

I use backloggery myself but I havent updated in a good year or so. in the early days of /vr/ there were backloggery threads where fellow anons friended one another

there's an upcoming site called glitchwave for rating/cataloging/reviewing games. it's a spinoff of rateyourmusic.

Yeah it's called not being a hoarder.

that wasn't even clever, or relevent

Have you tried folders on your computer. I hear you can sort games by title alphabetically. There's also bookshelves if your using original hardware.
>>
>>2827927
Either you're a hoarder or a filthy reseller if you have so many gosh darn video games you can't even remember which ones you own. Seek help.

The b8 is old and moldy.

Denial is a classic sign of hoarding. In your mind the rat feces in your house is just "b8" placed by someone trying to frame you.

A better way is to start a collection/setup thread. You'll get the guys that are uber proud of their collections gathered in one spot. You'll catch multiple autists at one time with this b8.

Openemu is trash but it's your only choice now that SNES9X is broken on El Capitan.

I just save images of covers into folders named for the systems they're for. Works for me.

I went through the trouble of setting up a Hackintosh just to try this, and it's shit.

> ass-backwards UI
> very few configuration options
> assumes you're a pleb that uses savestates and prefers faster emulation cores over more accurate ones
> extremely minimal shader support

It's literally an emulator package made for casuals, and its focus on utter simplicity actually makes it harder to use because you can't configure the stupid thing.
>>
>>2828001
so...
like everything else on OS X?
>>
>>2828010
Pretty much actually. I'd like it a lot better if its applications had more configuration options, and application windows were able to have independent menu bars.
>>
No Glitchwave shills yet? I'm proud, /vr/.

vgcollect actually sucks, also the nintendoage/atariage ect age sites. Many games missing or when you make a request to add it just get's messy and annoying. Especially vgcollect has alot of dupes in theier database.
Now i'm also coding my own database with alot of functions i miss on the public database services. When it's sometime done and stable maybe i will make a service out of it somehow. But not sure yet.
