Man, finished this game just a few days ago.
Great game, catchy music, nice gameplay, interesting plot, what an old gem.
The vs. mode is nice too but my friend would always pick Prometheus and that asshole, while having low mobility can sustain a lot of damage while dealing massive damage and i just don't know how to handle him.
That said, i also think Chrono Trigger is the best SNES game, i love retro games and i never played anything that i could consider better than CT.

I think CT, CT, CT, and CT are better than FFVI, FFV, PSIV, both lunars and all these shitty JRPGs with very poor execution, a lot of filler and bad timing.
FFVI , FFV and FFII (Nes) are very good games anyway.
Aslo I think Super Bomerman 1 is better than CT.

Not my favorite SNES game, but easily my favorite JRPG. FF4 and 6 are up there too though.

I just completed this game earlier today.
It was clearly a good game, although it was too short and easy, but it's definitely not the best super nes game. Or RPG, for that matter.
CT is pretty good. Nicely paced. Some endearing characters. But like many JRPGs it gets repetitive and the story runs out of steam after you fight Magus.

To be fair, the only character I really enjoyed was Frog. The others were pretty average; Magus had a few good ideas as a characters, though.

That's usually what happens when you build up the final boss midway through the game, and then when you beat them things keep going. There really wasn't much of a tension breaker between Magus' long ass castle before you get dumped in to the Tyrano Lair, and then you have to slog through the depressing ass ice age before doing a fetch quest and then fighting your way through the under sea palace before you get to what is basically the free roam portion of the game where the dungeons aren't quite so expansive and time consuming.

Really? I felt the opposite. Prior to that, the story felt rather uninteresting, since a good half of it was just doing a bunch of crap so that you could get the Masamune fixed. After battling Magus and finding out about Zeal, the story became a lot more interesting to me.
