Witchyworld and Hailfire Peaks > JRL

DKC series and nes Mario games got em. I enjoy the ice levels of those as well.
Ice Climber is one big ice level.
The first world of EVO was a sweet waterworld.
>>
>>2821805
Ruto was one of my first video game waifus. I was mad that the game didn't make more of Link's promise to marry her.
>>
>>2821924

you never know though, zoras might age badly. just look at king zora

Woah. Do you live in Miami as well, OP?

The ruins of Uru was always my favorite area in PDS. Very mellow with great aesthetics and music.

I often hate water or underwater levels, like in Crash Bandicoot 3 for example, truly awful.

But after some thinking, I realised I kinda enjoyed them in Super Mario World.
The music was enjoyable too.

er, no, donkey kong country

dunno why I keep thinking that was on 64
>>
>>2823134
the levels with baby yoshi were nice cuz you could move a bit faster. the only thing that sucks about most water levels in platformers is that they're slooow
>>
>>2821656
There needs to be more fast paced, dynamic water levels. I can't think of many retro examples of this, they usually are very slow. I'd like to see something like water park-themed levels or maybe a game where you're a fish and water movement is natural and interesting, rather than a hindrance for the most likely humanoid character.

The water stages in Hydro Thunder are pritty gud :^)
>>
>>2824770
I like the game but the underwater levels are shit.
>>
>>2824717
Do we consider this retro now?
the game is 13 years old, which is quite old but definitely not retro, right?
>>
>>2824792
once nintendo shoves nx down everyone's throats, it'll be 3 generations removed...
>>
>>2824851
I guess.
So the rule is, three generations behind?
>>
>>2825154
This is the rule:

>This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games. Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. With the release of the 8th generation of consoles, the Sega Dreamcast will now be considered "retro", though the remainder of the sixth generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube) will not.

An update to the rule will probably happen some day, but not yet.
>>
>>2825182
Fine with me but I'm looking forward to the day Gamecube becomes discussable here.
>>
>>2825191

Same with PS2, but I'm already reflexively cringing at the though of dealing with XBox brodudes and their Halo faggotry.
>>
>>2823093
The water stages in any mega man game are hella fun. Dat high-jump.
>>
>>2825195
can't be any worse than castlevania fans

I loved all the swimming parts in Tomb Raider. One of the few times it's been really done well.

I chuckled

Eh, the only level I felt had poor design was cloud kekoo land.
>>
>>2825195
Thing with Halo, as with most any shooter franchises, is that nobody plays the old entries anymore. Hell, I don't think anybody can even play 2 online anymore.
>>2825705
If anything is gonna get spanned, it is this. And I'm gonna get really tired having to argue Naoto's pronouns for the 500th time.

>>
>>2825191
Me too. I would love to talk the GBA and stuff too.

>>2825195
Maybe we can make a special rule to exclude Halo?

>>2825378
On the other hand, this.
Talking about Castlevania on 4chan is a quagmire of shitposting.
A typhoon of retardation occurs if you say you liked, or didn't like one game, or whatever.

>>2825705
They can stay on /vg/ honestly, P5 is coming next summer, it's not like the Persona general will ever dissolve there.
Not that I mind waifu-talk.
