So I'm trying to get it for Black Friday and it's slightly cheaper on retrogate but says it comes with CIC not CIC II and I'm fucking panicking. I don't want to miss the sale.
>>
Just chill out and buy the Chinese version for cheaper at aliexpress.

....Impressive. Details are appreciated. Is it really just as simple as plugging this in to an N64 and inserting an SD card with your chosen ROMs?
>>
>>2821538

Google exists fora reason.
>>
>>2821548
Yeah, lets not have discussion or banter.

What else is your point with the thread? Just announcing it and then we all move on and don't talk about it?
>>
>>2821538
I'd guess so.

Does it have a front-end for selecting roms?
Can you make saves on the cart like normal?
>>
>>2821512
If it doesnt have what you want, then if I were you I wouldnt bother. You will spend less on it but you would be disappointed.
>>
>>2821512
The regular CIC chip is fine. ED64 will play every game in the N64 library but games with special hardware and a few obscure JP games that no one cares about. The RARE games with DRM can be played with a patch. Check the compatibility list. And remember, if you really want to play Pokemon Stadium, you can always buy a real cartridge for it.

>>2821538
1. Copy OS files from the krikzz website onto SD card
2. Copy ROMs onto the SD card root directory
3. Inset SD card into flashcart and power on N64
4. Select ROM from menu and play

Everything else is the same as a retail N64 cartridge.

>>2821590
Yes and yes.
>>
>>2821809
I went for the CIC II chip for the extra dollar.

I can play everything ever now!
>>
>>2821512
Best 200 bucks I ever spent. Just buy it on krikzz website. There's literally single games on the n64 that cost more and emulation is shit. I have a chipped saturn and an n64 with an everdrive. Everthing else is emulated
>>
>>2821829
Tell me more about this chipped Saturn.
>>
couldnt it be said that 64drive or any other fc using an ultraCIC II be 100% compatible?
>>
>>2821948
There would be incompatibilities for other reasons, not to mention you can only get one inside of an Everdrive 64.
>>
>>2821512
What games did it originally not support?
>>
>>2821512
Is the Everdrive GBA still planned or did he scrap that?
>>
>>2821834

I have one :^)
>>
>>2822898
Where'd ya get it?
>>
>>2822929
can anyone get this to work i cant

>>
>>2823480
i have regular cic chip
>>
I have an everdrive64. What can I do now that I could not before. Also why the gameshark be not working proper?
>>
Great now I can play all 20 games on the N64 for the low price of only $220
>>
>>2823503
still cheaper than buyin the actual carts
>>
>>2823517
This. 3 or 4 popular games will run you 200 easy.
>>
so not only can it now play 64dd games, it can even emulate all drm protections... nice
>>
>>2824864
Don't the 64DD require extra hardware or was the DD nothing but a reader for the new format and there was no extra power?
>>
>>2825348
it was just a disk reader iirc. they made it because cartridges were the n64's weak point. cartridges and more raw power meant it was faster than the competition, but that didn't mean jack if you couldn't store the sound files, textures, models, and code to make use of that power.
>>
>>2821512
Oh wow region free too, thats good.
>>
>>2825619

This really does seem like the real deal, especially in light of >>2823520 .
>>
>Yes, it include all ED64 which will be shipped after 26th november
>my ED shipped the 24th

Not a big deal I guess since there's still patches for the games with anti-piracy. What is a big deal though is deciding what background to use.
>>
>>2821512
I still don't trust someone with a MS paint avatar
>>
>>2821809
>And remember, if you really want to play Pokemon Stadium, you can always buy a real cartridge for it.
I thought the SRAM battery in 3.0 fixed Pokemon Stadium.
>>
>>2825567
Well, but for the Mario Artists the additional hardware would still make sense, without it, it will be quite boring. Like microphone, mouse or capturecard etc..
Anyway still nice for people who haven't experienced it at all yet.
>>
>>2826806
How would an ED firmware upgrade change the availability of Pokemon Stadium carts?
>>
Hmm, how much do these run for?
I might pick one of these up some day, as well as a memory expansion.

And a gamepad that doesn't suck.

So, hey, you just put the SD card in there and it'll read the ROMs, right? I guess I'll need to get something to plug my SD card into for my computer as well.
>>
>>2827297
You need the os from krikzz webstie to put on the sd card too, read the fucking thread, and they run about 200$ USD
>>
I have the SD2SNES and I can't seem to load any pilotwings levels
>>
>>2827385
>and they run about 200$ USD
Fuck me, I'll have to make sure there's actually that many titles I want (adding up to this much) before I make an investment like that.

>James Bond
>Mario Party, all of them (might have to get another controller for this one)
>Perfect Dark
>Doom
How many dollars does this average to?
What else was great on the 64?

Oh man, I might need some new cables too, I'm not sure the 64 will hook up properly to my big flatscreen.
>>
So, A few questions

Does getting it from krikzz mean I have to get anything else for it?

Can I take a CIC chip off an N64 game?

Do all N64 games use the same CIC chip thing?

Do tracks and cars made in the F-Zero Expansion kit get saved?
>>
>>2827680
1. SD card
2. Not that I know of
3. No
4. Yes
>>
>>2827735
Does any SD card work?
>>
>>2827741
As long as it's the right physical size, I'd imagine it would.
>>
>>2827741
Should be a compatibility list of sd cards on the website, I suggest using a sandisk
>>
>>2825348
for a long time faggots thought it needed additional hardware cause it had extra pins. but, turns out they were able to get ed64 to play 64dd games without cart conversions working. so, so much for that bullshit.
>>
>>2826967
he means v3.0 hardware, jackass. those version numbers have nothing to do with what software it is running out the box.
