I remember playing this game at our local roller rink when I was eight or nine. It must have done a number on me because I still think about it at least once a month.
>>
>>2807375

somehow I never heard of this before. wtf?
>>
>>2807413

It's called Chiller.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiller_(video_game)
>>
There's an unlicensed NES game that goes for a nice price too.
>>
>>2807425

yea, I see...

this is really unnecessary.

I played Chiller when I was a kid. The cab makes an extremely loud scream sound about once every three minutes it's hard to ignore in the arcade. Even though I must have been 10 at most, I already completely separated games from reality especially a light gun game like that. If you want to actually get your quarter's worth you pretty much have to stop thinking about anything other than scoring points.

I was certainly more affected by computer games when I was young as they had more depth. I was one of those kids with a libido even in first grade and pic related certainly fueled my hypersexualization.

I didn't even get to play it for more than a few minutes once in a while at a friend's house when their parents weren't looking but my imagination was much dirtier than the reality. I would stare at the back of the box in the store and think about all kinds of crazy shit.

Puberty hit me like a freight train at 12. I could not stop whacking off. I ended up jerking it raw, if memory serves. I had my first pubes at 10, though.

That aside, Blood is way more gory while still being retro.
>>
>>2807517
Mortal Kombat at least has gameplay.
Chiller is boring as fuck.

It's funny to think Doom was controversial at one point.
>>
>>2807517

I'd say the blood isn't the most shocking factor about chiller, but the fact you're torturing people to death.
It also has some blood, just not as much as on the arcade original.
>>
>>2807375
Who thought this was a good idea?
>>
>>2807489
Yeah, but in Blood you're killing monsters and bad guys who fight back. In Chiller, you're literally just torturing helpless prisoners.
>>
>>2807825
Freaks. The story behind these games is funny, because Exidy only has a few "edgy" games. The rest of them you could probably play around grandma.

>>2807832
Yeah, and even in games that you kill innocents, like GTA1, you're able to be punished for killing innocents.
>>
What's weird about Chiller is that aside from the human prisoners, the other enemies are goofy Halloween cliches like bats, ghosts, skulls, witches, etc. It would almost seem childlike if not for the captives.
>>
>>2807456
i know the guy who was the voice of leisure suit larry
>>
>>2807375
Reminds me of 'Zivot neni krasny' games.
>>
Phantasmagoria
13th Guest
Harvester
>>
Was Sanitarium controversial? Or was it so unpopular that no one cared?
>>
Also Jack Orlando would have been extremely controversial and banned in several countries if it was released today.
>>
>>2807375
chiller is just depressing, honestly. i dont mind the torture and gore, but theres nothing else to it, its just kind of a downer that someone spent time making it.
>>
>>2807437
What's this game?

Playing that game expecting only cute girls was quite possibly the worst mistake I've ever made in my life.

Not him, at first I thought it was some random Japanese wannabe horror game so I didn't give it much thought but when I saw other anon say he "only expected cute girls" then it got to me that I actually seen this game before... on BTP:

>>
>>2810472
Was kind of meh, to be quite honest. Compared to the advertisements/hype about it, it wouldn't cause anything if it was released today
>>
>>2810685
So why does she turn into a vampire? Anyone knows?
>>
>>2807770
its controversy was also heightened after columbine as well not just when it was released people are stupid
>>
>>2810685
That laughing. What's wrong with this guy? Is he 12 or mentally ill?
>>
>>2811310
I think forced reactions is what brings in the views on Youtube.
>>
>>2809074
>Harvester

Still one of the very, very few games able to unsettle me, even though it's so cheesy

>you were always a kidder, steve
>>
>>2809074
Why was Phantasmagoria controversial?I played that game as a kid and I don't remember anything especially bad about it.

On a side note, I used to be convinced that the actress from Phantasmagoria was Heather Brooke of iDeepThroat fame.
>>
>>2811341
Aside from "scary" the most I've heard about is the supposed rape scene

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLgvcdACskg

I guess the fact that it's rape is up for debate, but the fact that is awkwardly long, has hooky acting, animal sounds and latin chorus throughou all made it a bit too crazy.
>>
>>2811341
Rape scene.
>>
>>2811310
>>2811315
Normal people laugh when confronted with funny situation. Not everyone has autism like us.
>>
>>2807375
how was this allowed in arcades???
>>
>>2811483
Not like that though.
>>
>>2811776
The fact that there are people observing you as you play an erotic game adds an extra layer of embarrassment.
>>
>>2811310
He's a let's player. You gotta act mentally retarded if you want dem views.
>>
>>2812081
>Play a game named Miss World Nude 96
>Be surprised there's nude women
This doesn't add up.
>>
>>2811335
Really? Harvester is pretty funny in my opinion, it tries so hard that sometimes I wonder if they were even trying (probably not).

Also the endings are fun as fuck.

"Don't you know people that play violent games become violent themselves?"
"That's bullshit mom"
>>
>>2812221
Stop bullying Broteam, he is the best, he's not like the rest.
>>
>>2812818
Ok ,I am sorry.
>>
>>2807437
Kamiya/?
>>
>>2811305
There was a lot of freaking out over it before columbine though.
>>
>>2810990
It turns into a vampire if you keep grabbing large chunks.

Notice the blue and red bar at the top of the screen. Every time you grab a large chunk you loose points. If you end up in the red are of that bar, your girl turns into a vampire.

Not retro

heh
>>
>>2811341
Her name is Heather Harmon, Brooke is the guy I think.

I wonder where she is now.
>>

>>
>>2813384
Large chunks of not-girl, yes.
>>
>>2814076

>>
>>2811395
She was enjoying it way too much
>>
>>2815610
Double rape victim here, can confirm. When Tyrone did it, it was the best experience of my life. But Aalewis the Euphoric looked at me from across the street, it gave me post traumatic stress disorder.
>>
>>2815610
>>2817561
Typical womenposters.
>>
>>2817561
>tfw your first name is also Aalewis

*drops trilby and holds it next to his heart for a moment, then puts it back on his head and tips it*
>>
/vr/ is misogyny
>>
>>2811341
>Why was Phantasmagoria controversial
Because of the graphic gore and sadism?
>>
>>2811335
He was a "kidder" alright.

The actor playing Steve wound up being done for kiddy fiddling or watching kiddy fiddling in case you didn't know.
>>
>>2820783

This is bait.
>>
>>2821428
Really? Thanks for pointing that out for us. Glad we have you on board.
