Is there an uglier '90s computer game than Hugo's House of Horrors?
>>2807201
Yes.
>>2807201
Thanks anon. I've been trying to remember what that game was for years now. Haven't touched it since I was super young.
>released in early 1990
That shit is only a 90s game by the loosest of definitions.
>>2807306
Or by the only reasonable definition. Which is it's from the 90s.
Your issue is that lumping a ten year period all together is unfair.
>>2807298
I found it on one of those CD-ROMs with 1001 games. Remember those?
>>2807201
I never played this game yet many years ago I had a dream in which I saw the exact same house and I went inside it and it was as if I played the game in my dream.
Later when I discovered it was a game and a real thing and that the stuff I saw in my dream was in the game I was so mindfucked I couldn't think straight. This just doesn't happen.

well, welcome to 4chan...
this board was long free from mainstream 4chan culture, but all 4chan boards have a time limit before they become trash.
>>2807360
Your name isn't Hugo, is it?
>>2807350
See you tomorrow, anon.
It's a cheap Maniac Mansion clone.

Basically fuck both of you right in the ass. I didn't have a computer that could run Sierra and Lucas Arts games until the early 90s and HHH rekindled my interest in them.
Shareware games are basically the Indie games of the /vr/ era so show some fucking respect.Bonus factoid: Nitemare 3D is a genre jumping Hugo game
I can still remember that blood-red dining room with the picture of a witch on the wall.
>>2807354
Same thing. 1001 Games on 2 CDs collection. Mostly freeware/shareware/demos, but fun enough. Closest thing I've found was a 5001 Games collection. Last disc strangely has Doom and Hexen WADs. This was boxed too.
>>2807458
It's absolutely not, did you even play it?
>>2807447
You can say the same thing about the 2001's in gaming and culture. 9/11 to me ended the 90's, and when the GCN and XBox came out two months later, gaming had shifted.
hugo's house of horrors was the shit fuck you guys
>>2807458
If you think "clone" means "shares a superficial similar theme--a spooky house--and has nothing to do with mechanics," then sure. Dork.
It's kinda weird to think that Hugo came out in 1990, the same year Monkey Island dropped. Hugo is comparatively primitive, even more so than the early Police/Space Quests years earlier. But, I think Hugo was done entirely by one guy, so that kind of explains it.
>>2807465
>Captain Comic
Did somebody say Moraff's World?
>>2808578
I actually ordered this game through the mail because I thought there would be nudity.
What about games that don't even have graphics?
>>2808276
Yes, David Gray did everything.
>go to Wikipedia
>maniac mansion mentioned four times
So that's where idiot boy got his "it's a clone" bullshit.
>>2808589
It's an indie retro style demake.
>>2807465
>Hugo 3 Jungle
made me chuckle for some reason
>>2807502
>You're mostly right, but Alice in Chains released their first album in 1990, and it's very 90s-sounding to me
And Ritual de lo Habitual. But then there were other 1990 albums like Painkiller and Rust in Peace that were basically the finale of the 80s.
