How the fuck do you play this comfortably?
>>2806559
But I want to play Wario Land really fucking badly and I keep hunching over it and it hurts.
>>2806562
Ask your mom for some pointers
>>2806568
>>2806557
You kind of didn't, which was the issue.
People talk about the headaches as if they came from eyestrain, but really, most people got headaches from playing the Virtual Boy because you typically have to position your neck in a very uncomfortable position to get a view.
It's a shame the Virtual Boy is the Virtual Boy, because honestly, it has a couple of pretty nice games on it.
>>2806562
Honestly, emulate it.
You can even kind of turn off the 3D in an emulator if that bothers you.
Can't you put the thing up on a stand or a box or something, atop a table or desk, so that you can fit your face into it without bending your back?
I dunno, I haven't touched a Virtual Boy in like twenty years so I don't remember how they're shaped exactly, but it seems like something similar to that should work.
>>2806557
On your back with it resting on your head for as long as you can stand.
>>2806579
You almost certainly end up angling your neck in an unpleasant manner.
I've seen some images of people lying on their back, with the stand on their chest and resting the VB on their face.
I figure that's probably not as bad for your neck, but I don't know how steady it is.
>>2806575
>Honestly, emulate it.
Nothing comes close to the real thing with the digital surround and clear, crisp visuals.
I have found the most comfortable way to play Virtual Boy is lying down, with the VB resting on your face, with a t-shirt or something to keep your nose from being crushed.
Why Nintendo
Why have you not released VB games on 3DS
It was meant to be
WHY
>>2806972
Because whenever normies hear Virtual Boy they screech "DUDE EYE CANCER LMAO," and aren't aware there were actually some good games for the system.
>>2806692
>>2807058
>implying it's bait
>>2807058
It's true though, emulating VB is not quite the same, primarily for the 3D effect (using 3D glasses will not provide the same depth, I tried it), and he's also not joking about the sound, if you've actually ever played with a VB, you know the sound in that thing is incredible, it's crystal clear.
Probably some of the best, most comfy chiptune I've ever heard.
There's something about the VB speakers, I don't know man, but listening to the ripped music on my PC speakers or music player isn't the same.
it's still OK to emulate if you don't own a VB/if you find it too stressful due to neck pain, but yeah, it isn't the same experience.
>>2806972
Because Virtual Boy 3D is nothing like 3DS.
>>2807039
But wasn't the only truly interesting game for the VB Wario Land?
>>2807103
Teleroboxer, nigga.
Teleroboxer.
>>2807103
Teleroboxer
Jack Bros.
Mario Tennis if you like that stuff
3D Tetris is interesting in concept.
>>2806557
Duct tape.
>>2806921
This
>>2807103
Vertical force, Jack bros, Mario clash, Mario tennis, teleroboxer, panic bomber and wario land are all pretty damn solid.
>>2807103
There are a few good games on the system, almost all of them are worth playing.
>>2806634
this
>>2807039
This would be the best way to fix that misconception, wouldn't it? I'd pay retail price for a collection of all of Nintendo's VB games.
The only games best played on a VB are Red Alarm, Teleroboxer, and Innsmouth no Yakata.
They are in first person and and is more like a virtual experience. Well, Red Alarm is by default 3 person but can be switched to first.
The rest you could just play on emulators. Particularly WL. It makes more sense for it to be red than red and blue given the atmosphere. That is to say that you even care to play them in 3d.
I don't know how it works for the Occulus Rift, but I'd recommend playing the games I mentioned above.
>>2806557
I lay flat on my back and balance it over my face.
Works okay.
>pull my old vb out of storage
>haven't played it in years
>oh sweet it still works perfectly
>play for about an hour
>suddenly weird lines and shit start appearing on right side
>maybe the cart is dirty
>try another game
>its still there
>starts getting worse
>look up the problem
>this is a common problem when shitty glue that holds the ribbon cables to the eyepiece starts coming undone when they get old.
>super hard to fix
>can't even open the thing because the specialty screw is in a recess too far for most specialty bits to fit
>mfw
>>2806557
sit in a recliner and have it lay on your face, kinda sucks when you have glasses
>>2806557
There's a reason they took these off the shelves within one year of its release.
My local game store had it brand new for $25 when I was 15. Took it back a week later.
>>2806557
How much for it
>>2808046
>grab my vb from the closet
>teleroboxer for a bit
>pull off the goggles
>OH FUCK I'M BLIND
>THE LEGENDS WERE TRUE
>like, I can barely see shit
>fumble around, screaming I CAN'T SEE
>open my door
>can see just fine
>turns out it was daylight when I put on the vb and the sun set while I played it and didn't leave any lights on
>mfw I made this story up
>>2807072
there is almost no difference. how hard could it be to vertically interlace the two images for it to work with the 3ds's parallax barrier?
>>2808438
I smiled, good one anon
>>2806557
removed the legs from mine and attached it to a camera tripod.
>>2806557
>place it on a table
>adjust the stand
>play game
Honestly, it's not anywhere as big a problem as people make it out to be.
While it's not in 3D, you can download LAKKA and emulate this shit perfectly on any computer with a USB port.
