I'll remember this entire game for the rest of my life even if I stop replaying it every other year.
Also, this particular screen always resonated with me emotionally for some reason.
Fuck this game is so beautiful aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
>>
>>2804128
i can hear that music still, i remember i was too poor to afford the game but i had an Eidos demo disc that just included basically this "section" from the beginning when they come across that Shinra tower thing thats on the cover up to the gold saucer. For years I wanted that game so bad, I never knew how expansive it was, i figured this was near the beginning. I leveled up Cloud and Barretts limit break too by mistake once from overplaying it and was blown away. So much mystery so much potential that was to be. I bought the game used for playstation years later to emulate on my pc so I could finally play it. That game blew me away even, 6 or 7 years after its release. It gets a lot of hate but this game is probably the top gaming experience in my whole life. Sorry for the rant, todays been a long day introspective day.

for being a gullible kid who tried just about every Masamune, 1/35 SOLDIER, etc. rumour on 90s FF fansites regarding the Gongaga reactor.
It looked like something belongs in the hole in that front plate, and it seemed reasonable that Zack could have been hiding out in there.

This place really got to me in FF7 on my last playthrough. It's the first time (and one of the only times) in the game where you hear this track, and it just comes out of nowhere. You go through 2 hours' worth of getting the Northern Crater, then you meet up with the real Sephiroth, and the game's events really culminate.

>beautiful
There's a weird beauty to it, especially the backgrounds and how lo-fi everything looks. I've been thinking about the remake and how scenes like this would change. The whole bit with Barret is really cool, although he didn't really do anything to fuck up Corel. What was the deal with that? He just supported Shinra like everyone else. Anyway, I'm a little nervous about the remake. FF7 had tons of silly anime bullshit moments but I just don't wan't another Tidus_Laughs.avi in my life
>>
>>2807667
I'm not nervous about it, I know it will be 100% pile of shit
even if they remade it scene for scene with really conservative voice acting just translating the beautiful lo-fi graphics and environments into generic new generation high definition playstation 4 graphics would kill it
and let's be honest here, there's no way they'll be conservative with it, there will be a complete change of character just like there was with advent children after all
clouds from ffvii and cloud from AC are two completely different characters and I know which of the two will feature in the remake
>>
>>2807667
>especially the backgrounds and how lo-fi everything looks

I fucking love that late 80s/early 90s style of sci-fi, where everything looks totally decayed and filthy. Lots of anime OVAs have that look as well, like Cybercity OEDO and Bubblegum Crisis. I'm not sure what you'd call it...Cybergrunge?

It's like it's all technologically advanced, but done in the most rudimentary way, like it's just cobbled together from other things.

Sorry, I know this isn't retro.

The save room in the remake of RE1 for Gamecube. I played that game relentlessly when I was a teenager, and it scared the hell out of me, to the point where I'd feel ragged sometimes. Before bed, I'd always pop into the save room and just leave the game running with the music.

>>
>>2816535
It's the final area in the Dual Blade Shrine, so it's even worse due to being mandatory place in the story. It's embarrassing they over-looked that before it went to retail. Most emulators fix it, but I really didn't expect a glitch that bad in an actual SNES game, I thought my SNES was burning out.
>>
>>2816652
The Submarine Shrine and the final level of the Ancient Cave is also glitched out in the same manner on an actual SNES.
>>
>>2804958
>>2806923
This, Jesus.

You're in the single best training spot in the whole game, ready to blaze through a load of Magic Pots and Movers, you're in this comfy area with a nice circular track, but you can't just zone out and grind, because these fucking jedi penguins turn up and rape you if you're not paying attention.
>>
>>2818297
The only thing you should be grinding is the red balls that give 1000 ap (3000 with equips) level grinding is for autists.
>>
>>2818307

Yeah, the red balls are the Movers. They're pretty rare though, so it's much easier to grind against whatever comes your way. Also, as you're so close to the end of the game here, I usually level up my shit more though wanting to stretch out the game than anything else.
>>
>>2818314
>Yeah, the red balls are the Movers

o-oh.

> I usually level up my shit more though wanting to stretch out the game than anything else.

I wish most RPGs added the feature to continue playing after you win, with an added like super hard dungeon or something. I hated beating games because I know the joy is all over.
>>
>>2818328

That's one of the downsides to retro games: in most cases when the story ends, so does the game. Nowadays, of course, many (most?) games will give you DLC, multiplayer, or just a free-roam element to let you keep playing.

Still, FF7 was better than most in terms of giving you extra gameplay outside the main storyline. Chocobo racing/breeding, battle square, the Weapons...
>>
>>2818346
>F7 was better than most in terms of giving you extra gameplay outside the main storyline. Chocobo racing/breeding, battle square, the Weapons...

indeed. I wonder what FF7: REMAKE is going to offer. I will buy a PS4 for that fucking game.
>>
>>2818346
I haven't played many old rpgs but those I have did offer extra stuff.
FF8 was the same, I always do so much shit around 3rd disk before actually finishing the story.
Like the actual story takes me 10 hours max and maxing out my characters and finishing all quests and cards and so on takes another 50.
Same with FFVII.

>>
>>2818416
Fair point. I suppose I just consider AC to be part of the Extended Universe, if you will, and not actually part of FF7 itself. Or maybe I just keep telling myself that.
>>
>>2818419
regardless of what AC is or isn't it's pretty clear if you look at modern videogame aesthetics that not only it's possible for them to ruin FFVII with a remake but it's unavoidable
>>
>>2818424
I'm willing to give it a chance; I certainly wouldn't (yet) consider it unavoidable that they'll cock it up. The main thing I'm wondering about is whether it'll be the same 'game', or just the same 'story'. It's difficult to imagine FF7 with modern graphics and gameplay, but that's the challenge the developers have.
>>
>>2816652
Oh shit, so this explains why it didn't show up the several times I beat it on my emulator. Is there a good reason for this or an updated cartridge they released (Like how you can get donkey kong 1.1 1.2 1.3 versions) or any way to fix it in the game by doing anything?

>The main thing I'm wondering about is whether it'll be the same 'game', or just the same 'story'.
It has been confirmed, by word of god, to be the latter.
