Is there a site somewhere that helps people find other retro game enthusiasts, or retro electronics clubs, or something of that nature? It would be cool to meet like-minded people and play or learn cool stuff, especially how to repair stuff.

Look up conventions in your area. There's a retro convention near me called the Midwest Gaming Classic, it's a really chill event where people bring a shitload of arcade machines and play them and talk about retro games. Look what up what's your area.

The Seattle retro gaming expo was all hipsters, industry types looking to network, and wannabe youtube celebs passing out business cards. The only good thing was the vendors.

Post some games or a CRT for sale on CL, meet the people.

OP I can be your friend if you like, I've been looking for some /vr/ friends lately myself.

>retro electronics clubs
...This would be so fucking cool.

Also, there's this thing:
www.meetup.com
I made an account years ago but never actually used it (i.e. participated in the groups), so I can't vouch for how good it is. I'm sure it totally depends on your location, though.

I used meetup back when I was in school, never for games though.

Not seeing much beyond board games and roleplay groups around where I'm at now sadly.

Good thing I didn't miss anything - I wanted to go but I'm poor and live on the east coast. I'm sick of being swarmed by hipsters who've played nothing but Pokemon and Zelda when I mention I love old games and shit.

I've never really had the chance to tell people I liked old games, that's how it goes in my area. Though weirdly enough an older coworker of mine told me about how they really loved the NES back in the day.

>Post.....a CRT for sale on CL, meet the people.
>for sale
That's the very important part. Because if you post one for free, you're just going to end up meeting Pedro the scrap metal recycler if there are no gamers in your area

now I just need to find a CRT that's worth something to a classic gamer.
