I know an anon tried last year but no one wanted to do it.

Should we try again? Would anyone be interested in spreading some holiday cheer?

Could be a good excuse to get rid of some doubles to a friend.
>>
>>2792337
Find any Fighting game thread on /vr/.

That's how.
>>
I mean, I have a nomad that's completely working. It's a bit beat up, but I don't use it and I want it to go to a good home.
>>
>>2792351
I don't really know how to organize something like this but I'll think about it.

I have some stuff I'd like to see go to a good home too, like a Gameboy Colour with Pokemon Silver (and some random games) and an extra copy of Silent hill on PS1.
>>
>>2792331
>>2792341
>>2792342
Holy shit /pol/ fuck off before I ask one of my friends to start reporting you.
>>
>>2792327
>exchanging your address with random people on 4chan
>accepting packages from random people on 4chan

I dunno man this seems like a disaster waiting to happen. I love you /vr/ but I know one of you guys would send me a Retron 5.
>>
>>2792445
>giving your address to a dude on 4chan
>worse then giving your address to some random guy

I dunno why people get this reddit-tier association with 4chan where they think everyones going to fuck with them.

All of my interactions in the bst have been positive.

I get skepticism, but this is also for the holidays, and I like to think that most people here are enthusiasts to some degree and are generally respectful.

>retron5

Bro this shit usually has a pretty hard price limit. No ones going to pay to get someone a Retron 5 and ship that shit cross country.
>>
>>2792445

Other boards have successful ones but I'm not sure if I'd trust /vr/ on average.
>>
>>2792449
It's a joke m8 calm down.
>>
>>2792351
>>2792363

I'm willing to go for it, I have some things I could give out. Is the cost in items going to be Nomad-tier though? I worry about being the guy with the weak gift in the lot.
>>
I don't think anyone here would want a copy of Madden 97 for the Saturn.
>>
>>2792462

Like another anon said, these things usually have a hard minimum. /toy/'s was $30 this year though it seems like most people are going to either go above that or add in their own touches on top of that like candy and crafts. One guy said he's a welder and would cut /toy/ into a piece of metal and add that into his box.
>>
you'd just need someone trustworthy to handle the addresses, or alternatively, a website that could take people's information, randomize it, and only send one person's info to the relevant person.

Would listing one's interests to help gift-choosing be fair too, or should it be more open to 'I have this, please take it' ?
>>
>>2792450
i would probably trust /vr/ not to hunt me down and slash my tires and hack my phone and mail my browser history to my boss, but i think the odds of actually getting a game like this are pretty low
>>
>>2792464
I still can't believe that the 2KSports football game on Saturn supported 8 players.
>>
If this works, I have a mint condition ,never opened, earthbound game I don't want anymore.
>>
>>2792450
Do you know how the other boards organize theirs?

I don't really go anywhere besides /v/, /vr/ and occasionally /fit/, /cgl/ and the porn boards.

My thoughts would probably be to have a google drive doc with everyone participating (names or alias, just some way to identify them) with what they want (either generics like SNES or Genesis games or specifics like "I want Final Fantasy Mystic Quest"), with maybe a link to what they already own as to avoid people getting duplicates, and what they're willing to spend to get, or what they have on hand to give away.

Its logistically difficult depending on how many people.

>>2792462
>>2792468
We'd have to decide on a hard minimum/maximum or if you're willing to go over you have to expect to get something in the max $$ range.

>>2792470
I feel like the problem with randomizing it is that some people already have stuff they'd no doubt like to move.

Its obviously good to discuss these things
>>
>>2792483
so it's almost more of a white elephant than a secret santa, which is to say, a gift-giving where you give away something you don't want anymore. Which is fine, one man's trash and all that.

I'll have to remember what stuff I want to get out.

NBA Live 97 on Saturn supports 10 and has Shaq!
>>
>>2792483

/co/ does a pastebin of amazon wishlists, then has kind of a recurring general for the month of December with chatter, sharing photos, OC, storytiming comics, etc

/toy/ has a guy organizing it, $30 minimum, send in a list of 3-5 things you want (as specific or broad as you'd like,) anyone outside the US has to be willing to ship internationally, anyone in the US can opt in or out for international, the deadline on that ended and he's currently assigning santas.
>>
>>2792493
holy fuck I want 10 player B-Ball, assuming it's actually fun to play
>>
>>2792498
Guess you'll just have to see if Santa sends you a copy ;)
>>
>>2792493
How the fuck, do you need like 3 fucking multitaps?

>>2792486
I'm not opposed to people buying stuff for each other.
I basically started this because I have a bunch of stuff that I don't want or are doubles and figured we could do something nice for the board.

Its gives me great displeasure to deal with low ballers on CL, so much os that I'd rather just give it away to a guy who maybe enjoys going to the same boards as me.
>>
>>2792504
I'll gladly pitch in as long as it's sometime next month when I start working at my new job. Bought a Genesis homebrew I thought was garbage that I'm sure some collector would wanna have just for the sake of adding something they don't have to their collection.

I buy shit from eBay all the time and I've really never had to pay import fees.

Occasionally it happens, but its usually only on like 200+ dollar orders.

I'm honestly surprised this has more interest then last year. Last year was a total fucking bomb.

I'll set something up later tonight or tomorrow, I'm gonna play some bideogames.
>>

huh, weird.

I heard MMBN4 wasn't very good, maybe that's why it's still unopened.

Thanks for the praise, but I'm not actually a Yuro, just going to school in Germany. I haven't bought any PAL stuff here because it's cheaper to emulate. My NTSC games/consoles are what's left of my collection back home.
>>
>>2795049
>>2794985
eh, I'm Yuro too, but have mostly NTSC(-J) stuff anyway.

The PAL stuff is what I have since childhood, which is only the N64 (disregarding non-/vr/ consoles here), and I guess the GBC, but that's region free anyway.

Technically my Saturn started its life as a PAL unit but it's been thoroughly modified.

that's a fair statement for everything though, a secret santa is a hit-or-miss thing where you buy someone something random based on their interests.

Instead of asking for specifics, we really should ask for more general things of interest like genre or something.

If it's mostly people getting rid of stuff they don't want then whoever's organizing it would probably have to match up people who actually want the stuff being given away.

Like I have no want or use for common 3rd gen games and extra controllers or whatever so if I got sent that it'd be a waste but there might be someone who's wants to kickstart a new collection or something like that.
