Show me some good platformers for computers or arcade or whatever - anything but consoles or handhelds. This is somewhat unknown territory for consoletardslike myself. Try to keep it to platforming-platformers, including run and guns etc makes things too easy.

let me preface this with, i'm not european and only got into the zx spectrum because i wanted to update vbspec's source code with new features.
manic miner is damn good fun and challenging if you want something different and super old school to see where platforming began (in the early 80s). i imagine this would've blown my face off if i was a kid back then and lived in the uk. (29/american)

Dangerous Dave 2. It's not the purest platformer out there but it's a fun game.
