What's the most obscure console or game you own?
>>
It's almost 2016 and retro games are the hottest shit since grunge.

Nothing is obscure and the more obscure it was then the bigger entitlement it gives you now.

>>
Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt

You probably haven't heard of it.

A NES-001
It's worth $13,000
>>

Are you telling me that the NES-001 is rare and cost $13,000?
A mexican sell me that for only $100

Maybe the Wii U, nobody has that console and I think that in one future it will be so expensive.

Probably Zaku for Lynx or Total Carnage for Jaguar. Both were limited unlicensed runs. Neither system sounds obscure I'm sure, since e-celebs make memes about everything from pong to present, but I doubt most people have seen either in the wild.

Does special editions of otherwise well-known consoles count?
I have the pink Hello Kitty edition Dreamcast. Apparently only 1500 made.
The GD-Rom is slowly going funny though, it will no longer play Soul Calibur properly.

>>
I own a copy of zakuro no aji for SNES. Dont ask me why I have it. The intro is beautiful btw
>>
I have an EZF3 1gb that still works. Good saves and everything. I've had it for 10 years now.

Most all my games are pretty common. Still have Mario patient with a working mouse. Mega man legends 2 black label is pretty rare three days isn't it?
>>
Few years back I found a Master System in my grandmas house, she had no idea where it even came from.. Not the rarest thing you could have but everything else I have is nintendo bullshit.

It's pretty cool. Rarest game I own is EVO.
>>
I sometimes play Odd World on the original Xbox it's a cool one- pretty nostalgic
>>
Probably the Atari XEGS.

It's usually not mentioned anywhere, even when talking about failed Atari systems.

Not a terrible console either. Just outdated (even for the time) hardware.
>>
Not retro but I have an Ouya, found it at Goodwill.
As far as /vr/ goes though, I guess a Colecovision or Sega Nomad?
>>
>>2780173
Of course.

>>2780369
Nope. Not that dingus with his epic fucking fail Lobo shit.
>>
>>2780449
XEGS is just an Atari 8-bit computer in a console shaped case. You can see me discussing it in the "movie and tv" thread. It's no more powerful than an Atari 400 from 1983
>>
>>2780549

I'm fully aware. It doesn't make for a bad console. Better than most computer to console conversions from that time. I'd even say better than the 5200.
>>
well, I have a Sega Master System 2
or had, I'm not sure if I still own it

probably not too obscure or rare
>>
>>2780581
lol yeah are you sure you haven't been reading my posts because i'm all the time talking about that too

xegs is what 5200 would have liked to be but it needed to be cheaper, earlier and it still wasn't cheap enough for people to have bothered porting to, then XEGS had the library native, better controllers but came too late. Also no Space Dungeon.

Computers, not Jag is the place to look at what good post-vcs Atari games were like and XEGS is a good gateway drug. I was dumb not to cherry pick all those XE carts I used to see all the time strung in with VCS just because I didn't have the console. Now consoles are pretty cheap but the games are getting piss expensive.

that's the life I chose as a console gamer I guess.

don't copies exist somewhere on the net?
>>
>>2781336
my experience with those is poor though. I had a Sears Video Arcade II which did combination joystick/paddles, and it worked like shit because the mechanics were too complicated (granted this was a joystick that was also a paddle, not two separate devices, so that's not surprising).

The bigger issue is that it used special wiring for paddle games, so you couldn't use standard paddles. Unless you have four of the unique joystick/paddle combo units, you won't be able to play Warlords or Pong Sports correctly, which to me is half of why I own a 2600.
>>
>>2781148
It's my dream to actually get a 16-player FB2k setup working, I don't think any evidence of this feature actually working exists anywhere on the net.

I considered using crowdfunding to get the money to buy all the equipment needed (16 fb2k, 16 game boys, 15 link cables, and 7 4-player adapters, plus batteries or AC adapters isn't cheap). Then it could be a miniature event of sorts. I have a number of ideas for what to do with such an event but lack the drive to really put it into the real.
>>
>>2780863
Pretty

I only have a regular and color, they are my main impetus for learning Japanese at the moment. Once I finish reading tae kim's grammar guide I'm going to fire up hataraku chocobo and see how far I get, using a dictionary and frequent references back to the grammar guide as my tools.

I've got one of these. Paid like dollar and when I got it, the thing had battery acid leaked all over the battery compartment (either that or the previous owner had jerked off inside the console.) But once I cleaned it up it works perfect.

I've tried that, without good results. The symptoms are strange; to begin with it still plays CD-Rs of most games fine, also the problems it exhibits in Soul Calibur is that the laser sled will waggle back and forth as if it can't get smack on center or something when it's playing the music tracks. Some tracks will have more intense waggling (larger amplitude) than others. It's the music tracks specifically that are the problem.

It plays CDs just fine though. And most games that don't use redbook audio (unless I'm wrong and Soul Calibur uses something else) work fine.
