Mega Man series has this strewn throughout.

You can ride the Super Arrow in MM5. In Mega Man X2, you can use the Strike Chain to grab platforms. Oh, and Mega Man X2 also has the charged up Speed Burner, which can be used to cross large gaps.

Super Underrated. I love it more than Bionic Commando. Holy shit, I'm going to play it again!

gimmick is a classic platformer. it's challenging but very worth playing.

also, gimmick! (J) is the only way to play, mr gimmick is an inferior port.

You can't even come close to beating the game without doing that, right? Pretty sure there are levels where you start at the bottom of a narrow, enclosed tower you have to bubble bounce out of.

Besides the obvious soundchip differences, playing Gimmick! (J) feels so much smoother than Mr. Gimmick (NTSC)

When I play Mr. Gimmick, there seems to be a slight input lag that simply isn't present in the Japanese version, and Yumetaro just feels slightly heavier overall in the NA version.

Keep in mind Mr. Gimmick I have only emulated and I have played Gimmick! via both a repro cart and emulation, I can testify the differences.

You sure that lag isn't simply emulated vs hardware? Since you're playing the J one on your repro mostly
>>
>>2778302
Maybe he's saying the truth but he never played past a couple of stages
>>
>>2781038
I'm actually unsure at this point, but I have tried both Mr. Gimmicks: the NTSC "unreleased ROM" and the PAL version both via emulation and got the same heavy controls/slight input lag, the PAL version just had additional slowdown (the 50 Hz chugging along).

If I somehow come into possession of a repro cart or a flash cart, i'll test it to ensure conclusive results.

Have this one
>>
>>2781046
Does this game have any actual text or dialogue anyway? I have both in my Everdrive but I haven't played it yet. If it's 99% text-free I might as well play the japanese one just to be sure
>>
>>2781060
Nope, absolutely no text, just cutscenes at the beginning and end of the game
Give it a try!
>>
>>2780969

the japan version is definitely smoother overall, but sound is the biggest issue. the excellent soundtrack is gutted on mr gimmick, and the sfx become tinny - in particular the jump sound goes from being subtle to a nuisance.

overall, mr gimmick is only valuable as an artifact. for playing, gimmick! is what matters.
