Hello /vr/ct
How do you guys play in high res?
Do I have to download that openrct thing?
>>2770057
It's the easiest way to do it. It has every resolution up to 1920/1080 (as far as I'm aware). Might as well download it, it's stable and adds more stuff to the game.
>>2770065
I did. I am surprised it lags a bit, at least in 1920x1080. I'm gonna try 1600x900

>>2770254
They drank the kool aid
Hell, they use the "It's beta, you're a fucking whiner" excuse so much, they look absolutely fucking retarded. Keep in mind that the developers have only less than 2 months to fix all the major bugs in the game before launch. I mean, there have been much better looking and functioning betas released even more than 2 months before launch, the RCTW beta isn't even beta.
>>2770254

>P-pls stop talking shit about this game
I know we should probably stop talking about RCTW, but holy shit... are fanboys really this deluded that they will pretty much say "Don't you dare criticize this masterpiece!" about what is a barely functioning public beta?
>>2770797
As you wish.
Honestly, the game isn't nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.
The coaster designer has a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad.
So has there been any word on on that Rollercoaster 2 3DS thing?
Can we now go back to RCT3 and say "It wasn't so bad"?
>>2771141
No.
>>2771143
Not even just to import rides from RCT2 to record a on-ride view?
>>2771146
Well it sure beats recreating them in RCTW, at least for now, but "not so bad" is no way to describe the clusterfuck that was RCT3.

From my use of the coaster builder it's only a few key features away from being damn near perfect.
>ability to select nodes without the track snapping to the mouse
>ability to select multiple nodes
>ability to add track pieces identical to the last placed
>ability to manually input angles

>wait why are you guys shitting on world

>>2771718
In their defense, the whole point of the beta was purely to test the coaster designer. Whether they fix it by addressing our concerns by the next test, we can only hope. At least we have some input, I guess.
>>2771735
Sadly half of the forum is full of ass hurt people trying to cancel out anything negative about the game, saying "It's beta", while ignoring the fact that many of the bugs and steep learning curve are sort of big issues, especially considering the developers have until December 29th to fix upon the majority of them. I really am not sure how anyone could possibly fix this shit in less than 2 months. Basically, I agree with this comment.
I would have probably considered not refunding my game if there was more developer to consumer communication involved, but sadly the whole divide between people angry about the beta and the people angry about people angry about the beta shows that there's not too much hope in that, especially when you have hardcore shills

Do you guys have any info that might not be so well known about RCT 2? I only just found out about holding CTRL and mousing over an item sets your current item's height to be equal to the first one. I built every building without that trick for 13 years. It's a life saver.

>>2773509
Depends on ho you wanna install it.
You can always pirate it, and I'm sure it's somewhere on sale online.
If you do have the disk, install the game normally, and then get yourself a program a la powerISO or magicISO to copy the CD as a .iso file, which you can then mount on a virtual drive program like powerISO or magicISO (windows 8 and 10 have their own, just right-click and select mount)

Also why are the slopes at such a high angle I will never understand.
>>2774064
Don't like how lazy it looks. In 10 years, RCT 2 will still look good. This won't. The artstyle and whatnot is just too low effort.
>>2774078
This, honestly. I like the effort the put in but I just can't bring myself to be hyped for the game. At all.
>>2774064
These are graphics you'd expect to be placeholders, not finished models. The trees look like they took 5 minutes to make, and while the haunted house has a lot more effort put in (as it should, since it's a ploppable ride), it doesn't have the amount of effort you'd expect from an entire ride.
Flat surfaces are okay, but this amount of them just speaks of either laziness or a lack of manpower, both of which are problems common with indie devs to the point where it's indistinguishable which one it is.
It looks half-finished.
>>2774123
Could you give a few examples of things in a similar style that don't suffer from similar underdetailing? I get what you're saying, but I'm betting a number of people won't.

does anyone else feel like landscaping costs too much in both games? also where's the "uniform" feature on the landscaping tool in RCT2? you'd click the minus button once to get it in RCT1.
>>2774245
what do you mean uniform? clicking the minus in rct2 makes it into a hill tool
and yeah, it's really expensive. I don't bother with it in scenarios with money.
>>2774141
Katamari Damacy, TF2, and if we want to include an indie game, Lovely Planet, all spring to mind. Wind Waker somewhat in that it's got a more cartoon-y artstyle, but is anything but lazy.
In all of these they have more simplistic and stylized artstyles, they all feature plenty of flat faces, but they don't skimp on detail where it matters. None of them feel like they're using placeholder assets and they're very presentable as complete games.
>>2774259
>clicking the minus in rct2 makes it into a hill tool
that doesn't work in any of the scenarios i've played. what am i doing wrong?
>>2774419

>>2774123
the game is in pre-alpha, of course it looks half finished. It is now open to modding too, so anything cosmetic will be solved by mods long before the devs can release the full game anyway
>>2774453
>>2774457
you realise what a pre-alpha is right? they are still adding core features to the game. This isn't like RCTW where the release date is 2 months away and the game can't even be called a coaster design sim

>>2774453

this relies on the assumption there is some other, more dedicated community of creators out there that will painstakingly thumb over every bad asset. but this is already a dedicated community to a very niche interest. it's easy to wave off bad design by saying "someone else will fix it," but that someone else is going to have to be us to begin with.

>>2778762
Thanks anon, what color would you think would work the best for the glass? Not really the best when it comes to mixing and matching colors.

Here is a color chart from Google. It's the "opposites attract" thing - blue & orange, pink & yellow, etc. However, some colors in RCT look like ass and are impossible to make look good (looking at you, Ice Blue).

There are files for:
-A spinning coaster
-"C-clamp" track, which I can only presume is Arrow/Vekoma
-Files referencing the PlayStation and Ouya, probably generic Unity stuff
-There are 6 souvenir stalls and 7 food stalls, with each having 4 variations corresponding to each theme (Generic, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Western). There are more food items and souvenirs than that, but there's too many to list.
-Tutorials for opening bathrooms, checking finances, building coasters etc.
-Guests can take selfies, so you can't accurately recreate Disneyland
-Staff can "regenerate" now, so apparently they're all fucking timelords or there's some retarded mana-esque resource system
-There's an easter egg where you can annoy a peep somehow
That's what I could glean from a cursory glance. I'm going to try to load some of the mesh files into Unity.

That might be too excessive in difficulty. Maybe I should change a few things.
>>2783287
I'll play it. Too many scenarios focus on the comfy aspect and not enough on difficulty.
>>2783291
I dunno man. People prefer <4 intensity and I can't even place a haunted house. Goal is 1200 guest by Y4. Can't see that ever happening.
>>2783295
>>2783291
I'm gonna try and see if it's actually doable before I upload it anywhere. Trying to decide whether the ride height should be unlimited but with harder guest gen or vice versa. Guest intensity is a hard thing too. Not sure if I should leave it as default, <4 or >7. Also, it'll be park entrance fee with guests carrying ~£20 so that'll make cash generation harder. There's no construction rights or further areas to purchase. You get everything in the Mars area.
Doing some landscaping and shit right now
, I'll post a pic when I'm done.
>>2783284
Passwords seem to be possible now. Maybe thats the way to go.
>>2783347
Alright, I cba to test it any more. It's pretty hard. Goal is to get 180k park value by year 4. Can't get more than £20 per guest entry fee and the guest cap comes in pretty fast. Haven't had more than 300 guests with all this stuff. Some stuff will probably have to be changed to either make it a bit easier or harder.
The ride selection is pretty sparse too, starting with reverse freefall, mini, spiral, air powered and togo coaster. Will probably drop reverse freefall coaster from the initial ride list since it's 2gud. There's very little space to build much and building high up is expensive as fuck.
HERE COMES THE MONEEEEEEEY
>>2783153
I still wanna see a playing card suits collab
>>2783437
So upload it anyway. I'll beat it.
>>2783461
Build a dangling-legs roller coaster. Have it immediately go into a half loop and then end. Should only cost $500. Set the launch speed so it doesn't fly off the tracks, drop it everywhere there's space, and you'll see what it means to print money.

/vr/ct visits Alton Towers when?
>>2784804
>15 year queue time
Maybe, one day.
>>2784804
that doesn't look like a very safe coaser
>>2784906
Why not? Its in a stone foundation.
>>2784909
i thought it was an abandoned park and the coaster had fallen over or something, my bad
>>2784915
To be fair, the ride's over two decades old and is pretty intense.
>>2784915
Nah, Nemesis is just quite old, but it's one of the best in the country because it feels like it'll break your neck

>>2784964
that looks extremely fun
>>2784964
it looks really rusty
>>2785654
Too bad two people needed their legs amputated after that accident on it.
>>2784964
screaming like a fucking retard, as always.
>>2785654
>can't even hold the camera straight

I wish more parks did their own pov videos so we don't have to put up with shoddy camerawork and screaming retards.
>>2785717
>a rollercoaster has an accident because an operator was retarded
Oh no, shocker. Human error claims another victim.
>>2785904
A lot of parks choose not to so that you go yourself to ride it.
>>2786595
well, ill wave to you while im crossing the ocean in the other direction to visit some of the euro coasters ive seen posted.
>>2786569
I agree with human error being the cause, but that's regardless bad for business.
Heard the park was empty a week after the incident.
>>2786630
Fucking this.
Helix in Liseberg looks like so much fun.
>>2784804
I don't understand why they seem to have literally built it in a ditch.
>>2787182
It's more exciting. Passing through narrow spaces at high speed feels faster than if the ride were out in the open.
Just built this wooden coaster inspired by Harry Traver's designs, particularly the Riverview Park Bobs and the Rye Playland Airplane.

What was the cause of the accident anyway? I heard about the accident but it was too early on to have a definite "this was the cause" so I never found out what happened.
>>2787304
I think it was second car dispatched before first car had cleared the first lift. Lift failed and first car rolled back into second car.
