I recently played through this. it really is punishingly hard, although it's an excellent game. I like how they kept switching up the gameplay mechanics throughout.

I picked it up on a whim and have had a pretty fun time playing it.The furthest I've made it is level 5.

Battlemaniacs confirmed for the greatest of the series.
The arcade is also bad-ass and in my top 10.

I would have liked battlemaniacs if it didn't feel so much like a remake of the first game. Still great though, the production values are great.

I only played the gamboy version (in ragnarocks world). Was always dissapoint, that I could only play one of the toads seen on the cover.
Could only beat the motobike and snake levels after I read about the warp fields.
Never made it past the snow levels. Shit was punishing.
Combat, diversity and music were awesome though
