>>2759901
Yes there are. At the time there was the Coin Controls Competition Pro (digital, my preference) and the Wico Command Controller (analog, more popular). They both plugged in with a passthrough and you still used the number pad on the controller, although Wico made an independent control pad too.
I got pretty into 5200 a few years ago but I should have collected XE instead, and I should have started earlier too.

>>2760605
>that pad looks boss, but aren't most of the good 5200 games ported to 7800 anyway?
No, not at all. 7800 is a bizarre evolutionary dead end. The 5200 is a consolized XE computer with less memory in very much the same way a Dreamcast is a consolized Naomi arcade system with less memory. Theoretically, porting existing 8-bit computer games should have been easy but the 5200s still-too-high retail price and bad reliability left it dead in the water pretty quickly. Then Atari also released a full-spec consolized XE computer which is what anyone thinking of getting a 5200 should get instead, if not a full-on XE or even just a 400. There are a precious few worthwhile 5200 exclusives (Cosmic Dungeon) but the XE has tons of very solid "second-gen" feeling games.
Doug was hardcore
>>2760663
>>2760605
>that pad looks boss
For the sake of completeness and out of respect for the homebrew scene here's the level of controller that people construct, and there are some boss vintage production controller replacements too.
The 5200 has a strong homebrew software scene because it's so similar to the XE that games can be developed and playtested on that machine then, if the 5200 was in mind from the start, pretty simply ported.

>>2765925
Because it was a lazy cash-in from the success of the cartoon. Totally made to be kid friendly. In the first one the city was grimy, dirty, the GB smoked like chimneys. Now you don't see any of that. Everything's clean and bright and they never once pose with a cigarette. Slimer pointlessly comes back just because he was popular in the cartoon. The overall plot is definitely weaker. Instead of fighting the armies of a god they fight some dead warlord trapped inside a painting who's genius idea is to be reborn inside a baby's body and presumably wait 18 years until he's an adult to take over the world. And lastly the overall format of the movie follows very closely with the first one where at some points its very obvious they just took the first script and crossed stuff out and rewrote a few words.
>>2767324
>Totally made to be kid friendly.
In some ways, but there's a brief segment with impaled skulls and bodies.

Yeah I don't hate the movie, but it's nowhere near a classic as the first. Even the PS3/360 game was a better sequel in a way, though it rehashed levels too much.
>>2767442
>Even the PS3/360 game was a better sequel in a way, though it rehashed levels
I actually thought that game was quite good, despite some flaws (like Murray sounding like he phoned in half his lines, or the dumb as shit save system).
I like that they got almost all the cast, Peck is there, Janine is there.
Shame they couldn't get Moranis to do Tully, and that Weaver declined due to a misconception.
Wonder if there'll ever be another one now that Ramis is gone?
>>2767560
I hope not. Ramis was half of the driving force behind the two movies and the game. We're getting a remake, but I have very low expectations for it.
>>2767876
>Ramis was half of the driving force behind the two movies and the game.
Hmm, you're quite right about that actually, I'm not 100% certain Akroyd could carry that by himself.
He was a brilliant man, the world is less without him
>>2767876
>We're getting a remake, but I have very low expectations for it.
And that's another thing, I have no idea why it had to be a remake.
They could literally have redone the setup to be about a bunch of ladies who open up a Ghostbusters as a franchise in like, I don't know, Seattle, Las Vegas, whatever, some big town.
Murray could have briefly shown up as Venkman to sell them the rights to run their own Ghostbusters operation, like a contract or whatever.
Not only is that a better premise than "lol rule 63", it could be in the same canon as the originals (for better or worse)
>>2767560
>and that Weaver declined due to a misconception.
Ey?
>>2768295
Sigourney Weaver was asked to replicate her role as Dana, but she declined as she thought that Bill Murray wasn't going to be in the game (for whatever reason).
Eventually she found out he was, and changed her mind, but by then it was too late and her part and character had already been replaced with another one.
I don't know if they tried to get Rick Moranis to do Tulley, I think he pretty much quit acting after his wife died. In-game there's a note from Tulley at his desk where he says he's on sick leave.

>In-game there's a note from Tulley at his desk where he says he's on sick leave.
That's probably how I'd handle work if my wife died.

Saw the episode yesterday.

No, the actors wife died (though that was a pretty long time ago I think).
I don't know if the character Louis Tulley is even married.
>>2768448
>but by then it was too late and her part and character had already been replaced with another one.
It's just as well. If she was in it'd probably revolve around ghosts pestering her again. It was fine for the first movie but by the second it's like, really? Out of the 10 million people in New York to be directly affected it just so happens to be her again? That was just silly.
>>2768712
Her replacement was almost the same kind of character though, makes it feel kind of forced in one sense.
I mean, imagine if they made another entry, and since Harold Ramis is dead, they have to think up a new character to replace Egon Spengler.
They make a new character, with a new actor/voice actor, but he exhibits a lot of the characteristics of Egon, he's basically an ersatz Spengler, he looks and sounds different, and his actor's style isn't really present in the story, but he's obviously another Egon.
Wouldn't you rather they'd write a more original character instead? Like, he could still be sort of as straight faced as Egon commonly is, and be very methodical and booksmart, because the team needs that, but I think it would be much nicer to have this character developed in his own direction than just being a stand-in.

Pac-Man in Tank Girl
Mr Robot is fresh as fuck with tons of Anon content and has a primary set in an abandoned arcade.
Most of the set pieces are redemption machines but there are quite a few broken/incomplete cabs in the background that could be fun to identify. I guess a lot of them have prop marquees too with names like "Dark Seoul"...

Pretty sure the one on the right is a House of the Dead 2.

I swear I saw a brief glimpse of a model 1 Genesis and Sega CD combo sitting on a shelf in SoA. I even took a screen shot. I'll see if I can find it.

Holy shit that was funny, reminds me of Danny DeVito's character on Sunny. So young Christopher Lloyd plays a junkie on this show?
>>2769804
God that's just wonderful on so many levels.

Pacman was released in 1980 and BTTF was 1985. Holy shit.
God DAMN how I wish this odd moment had a better video capture on youtube.

Obviously relationship because Susan is there. If it was independent he'd be half naked eating a block of cheese as large as his head.

I remember back in high school, I had a game on my TI-82 calculator called Knife Fight that was essentially a fighting game with ascii art characters. It was balls to play, but I thought it was neat as shit.

wasn't that episode about them basically modding pong or whatever? Good times.
>>2770795
Yeah they wanted the paddles to be smaller so it would be harder. It's a mod you can definitely do.
Family Matters. Episode is named "Scammed."
They play a Mortal Kombat parody on a real SNES.

Iirc it was Parenthood. It isn't often, but I love taking the opportunity to use that, "That's why they're called Bad Dudes" line when I see someone game over on it.

No, the episode I'm thinking of was some maze game where they needed to find keys and such.
