Use the runes, but if your mana gets full (due to only wanding) then start spamming spells. Just never let the bar be full and either method works.

Runes don't use any magic, so you get a lot more magic level by using strikes, and it generally costs less gold to use strikes & pots than runes hunting. You will almost always lose money hunting with runes before you get to significantly higher level.
That said, once you have a decent magic level, runes are the fastest way to level if you have the gold to burn.

Offline training doesn't do nearly as much for ML like it does for weapon skills. It's half the rate of manasitting on food; which is not much at all compared to how much you gain by hunting with strikes or making your own runes with pots.
For example:
My next magic level would take 27 day(s) 0 hour(s) 25 minute(s) 28 seconds of offline training.
I will probably get it in the next ~7 hours of playing, and that's using runes, not strikes

Energy wave has a better pattern (11333) than strong ice wave(133); have beams (druids don't); sorcs get a death strike (druids get a physical strike which is armor mitigated and almost never used); can make sudden death runes; can deal the most energy & fire damage
Druids mass heal; heal friend; can deal the maximum ice & earth damage (really just ice because earth a shit on tougher mobs)
Those are the major differences. It's mostly just grass is greener.

Yeah, no. Hell's Core is never used, and there is no strong Fire instant spell - That doesn't really matter though, because Fire is almost as shit as Earth. But at least Druids have Earth Wave which is almost as strong as E-Wave in formula

What is Strong Flame Strike?
Just by merit of that alone not even including the other fire spells and fire wands, they are objectively better at fire damage than druids.
You can't say fire is almost as shit as earth (which most tough mobs are outright immune or heavily resistant to), then act like terra wave is a plus for druids. Terra wave costs more mana and does less damage than e-wave, and it's earth damage so most shit is immune to it anyway. It's practically never used. It doesn't share formula with e-wave; that's strong ice wave; which has an inferior pattern that is both riskier to use and hits less area.
I don't use any earth damage at all; but I can still recognize that druids can dish out the most earth damage of any class. Sorcs do the same with fire.

Your first post argued that sorcs deal "the most fire damage". I was countering that argument, and the existence of Strong Flame Strike does not support your view, simply because Great Fireball exists and if there are at least 2 mobs, it will deal more damage than Strong Flame Strike. And it doesn't have an 8-sec cooldown.
Now, Terra Wave is less mana efficient but that's beside the point. Setting mana and money issues aside, you can cast Terra Wave twice as many times as you can cast E-Wave. And I'm not arguing against Energy damage, I know E-Wave is much more useful, but please let go the bullshit about fire damage, because: 1) it sucks ass, 2) most worthwhile mobs that are vulnerable to fire are just as vulnerable to energy (grims, medusa/SS/hydras, souleaters, etc) and 3) sorcs don't have a fire spell that is superior to GFB, except for the useless UE nobody picks
And for the record, I have played both vocs and recognize their strengths and weaknesses. Fire damage is NOT a strength of sorcerers in their current state, but Earth, as near-useless as it is, is indeed a strength of Druids.

Okay nerds. I need help making the call. Help me pick a city to create a central base of operations in for /tbg/ meetings and party recruitment. Decide if it should have convenient travel accommodations, or instead be in a remote location so we can discuss lewd matters and the like.

It depends.
Upper Spike (25-49) is excellent to hunt solo as a mage with avalanches/GFBs. Remember to do the daily tasks if you do so.
Middle Spike (50-79) is hard and has crystalcrushers which are very fast and dangerous for this level range. Most stuff here is weak to Fire though, so that makes things easier. Still, I recommend you hunt here in a group. Expect decent to good exp and bad money.
I have only ventured into the Lower Spike once, in a group of three at level 80-something and it was absolute hell. The respawn is very fast and the variety of creatures is overwhelming. It's a bad place for exp, definitely. Not sure how it is for loot but don't expect much really.
All in all, except for the upper spike, don't go there unless you wanna have a fun and challenging hunt, or want to do the tasks to rack up points for the Cave Explorer outfit.

Some of those shouldn't be sellable (silver fafnar? holy shit it's bad enough how many rewards chars get for lighting one basin). Some already have decent market value. Some are fine. Some should be more useful (like fucking orac. pearls, why can't you just use them in temples to go to knightwatch tower? jesus).

Would also be nice. Plus it can't be good for returning players who left all their gear in a pacc town. I can't imagine how many returners buy pacc quickly just to get access to their shit and how many quit immediately because they can't hunt but in the long run having anyone quit again as soon as they return is worse than having any number buy pacc a little bit faster.
