Off-topic, but just to let everybody know...
I am making my own Pokemon game. What you are seeing here is a rough sketch of the protags for Pokemon Darkness. It will take place in a region known as Llicelf, which is based off of Canada. The plot involves the player joining the villains Team Cipher, who want to eliminate all of the pokemon in the world. You will run around the region killing everyone's pokemon with a rifle; wild pokemon can also be killed. The game will also have you travel to Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos in the main game, and in the postgame you will unlockthe Orre Region.
Disclaimer: It's not the final project so the plot may or may not change.

So, while I'm excited about the Serena and Pikachu episode, there's something I'm unsure about.
Could this be THE crossdressing episode? With how Ash has been portrayed this season having him crossdress seems out of character. However with Serena, it makes perfect sense. Have her crossdress as Ash because that gives plenty of entertainment while also giving the regular 1 episode per saga cross dress.
Because with all the shit that still needs to take place by the end of the year, the episode seems unlikely to take place. Hell, we aren't getting Iris/Cilanprobablyso it doesn't seem like we'll be getting all of the traditional episodes this series.

During the performance round Ash uses Greninja, as they perform their Synchronicity continues to build past regular Syncro into Ultra Syncro, they go beyond and the energy surrounding him causes his performance outfit to burst off of his body leaving him standing on stage in front of thousands and a live television audience in is boxers.

I don't get what people mean. Is the stock shonen personality boring now? Because Ash in XY seems the most fun. He's reckless and he does a lot of crazy stunts that are just intense to watch. The Summer Camp episode where he jumped on the Drifblim to get Bonnie and almost died (because you can't have a Bonnie episode without something about death) was probably one of my favorite scene of the show at the time. And it's not just because of Based Action Hero Ash, it's also because everyone else helped out and in the end Clemont was the one to save both Bonnie AND Ash.
Now that I remembered the scene where Serena laughed at Ash at the end of Sycamore's summer camp, now I remember that Serena only laughed at Ash for mere amusement when she saw him copy Tierno's dancing strategy.

Honestly these youtube people downplaying AG and DP and acting like OS and XY are the only series worth watching makes me angry. Basically because they're nostalgic fans who grew up with Kanto/Johto and just got back into it for XY.
Saying things like, "Ash is smart and evolving his Pokemon!" even though the majority of his Hoenn and Sinnoh teams were evolved. Or ignoring the development May and Dawn went through and how important the Contests were compared to how rushed the tripokalon arc was.

Generally agreed, but I think it's a bit overblown. We don't have many episode concepts as great as pokemon island/tentacool or heartfelt as butterfree, excluding the grandma, but butterfree was carried across multiple episodes. There was more progression.
Fights are easily the best though. We just get more filler than what he makes it sound like

serena is a great companion but dawn is still the best main female companion. even bonnie is better than serena. serenas arc was quite rushed.
ash is a great battler in xy but he was at his peak in DP. his progression from newbie in kanto/johto to skilled in AG to pro in DP felt really natural.
dont get me wrong, he is pretty good in xy. the only moemnt where i felt he was like dp ash was in his battle against olympia
in term of rivals DP still has the best one. gary was shit and he is the only worth mentioning besides paul. shota is more of a friend and is quite boring. it could be a random cotd for all I care, there is no real rivalry there.
xy has done wondere with the evil team, way better than with any other organization.
animation in xy is quite refreshing. we still have reused shots but is expected. we stil have our 4/5 episodes of shit aniamtion and then a good one that has been a thing since day one so in that aspect nothing has changed
xy is really good and is worth watching but credit where credit is due, dp is better

I think XY can easily be better than DP overall but there's no way it's going to have as good of a League for the simple fact that there aren't as good rivals.
There is no way any of the XY battles is going to be as big and powerful as Ash's battle against Paul. Sure it'll have better animation and action in all likelihood but there's no one nearly as good as Paul for Ash to defeat. Paul lasted the entire season, he was always there and the League had built up to that final battle so much. XY just doesn't have anything that can compare to that.

Even though DP was very long it only got bogged down between the 7th and 8th Gym, and even then there were still important events like the Galactic finale and the last few Contests and Ash Vs. Paul.
The only thing DP really messed up with was keeping Brock around, who was just boring and had no chemistry with the group. That and some of Dawn's rivals like Kenny were awful, and Nando barely appeared.
