Why not have Clemont be developed by having him start building machines that dont explode and have him build the new tech such as the Pokedex Z and the Synchronization Bracelets, it would give him development and make him relevant again after the Brobowl.
To be honest the only ship that, at this point, can pose a threat to Amour is Diodeshipping (Ash/Clemont). All the other girls just don't have a chance to compete with Serena's huge crush. The big threat to Amour, of course, is the fact that Ash might be gay - considering how he hasn't had any reaction to a girl ever since Giselle which was more than a decade ago. And you cannot deny the fact that Ash and Clemont already are VERY close (and we know that Lillia won't get Clemont next week).
I've caught up with all the released episodes of X&Y and I'm enjoying it more than I expected.
I remember watching some random episodes of best wishes thinking pokemon had gotten better since I watched it as a kid. I also remember finding green hair guy a bit annoying. Also >you're such a child Ash!

No dumbass, it became poignant through strong character writing. When Ash received Pikachu, it treated him with no respect and constantly mocked and disobeyed him, and while Ash was annoyed, he persisted and did his best to win it over. Eventually they both had to run away from a flock of Spearows, Pikachu got injured, and even though it treated Ash with disdain, Ash did everything he could to save it and get it to safety. Ash ends up falling over on Misty's bike, and with the flock of Spearows approaching, he tells Pikachu to return to it's Pokeball, deciding to put his life on the line to protect it. When Pikachu sees how much Ash cared, despite being injured, it jumped up and shocked all the Spearows to save Ash.
It's simple and it's effective. It was a perfect way to open the show and build the characters' relationship.
