Man, resistances are a bitch to memorize unless you've actively tried to learn the type chart. Even if some of them are just "type A is SE against type B, therefore type A resists type B", there are still a lot of exceptions.
I have no idea how someone could know for sure that fire resists steel just by playing the game normally, for example. The only time you'd even consider using a steel-type move on a fire type pokémon would be against a fucking Magcargo.
I flake out the most on whether or not Poison is NVE on Ground or Bug, the latter due to the the Gen I-II type chart change. Oh, and Fighting resisting (or not) Steel.
