when i was a kid, before i actually played any pokemon games, my favorite was Bulbasaur. i saw a sticker of Ivysaur at a store and thought it was just a cute fan art of Bulbasaur with a flower instead of a bulb on its back. When i finally got Pokemon Blue version and evolved my Bulbasaur, i was the happiest kid alive.

Dragonair wasn't an edgy beast. It was essentially the precursor to Milotic. So yes, Dragonite it worse for not following the trend it's two prior evos set.
