I'd always wished that the mushroom controlling Parasect would be a separate Pokemon, and that in order for a Paras to evolve, it must have the parasite attachée.

There are actually very, very few Pokemon that are based on just one thing. It's usually animal+item, multiple animals, animal+plant, plant+item, multiple plants, multiple Ãtems, or any combination thereof. Heck, toss a few abstract concepts, aliens, and mythological beasts into those combinations, as well. Very seldom are Pokemon based on just one or two things.
