Find a spot that has great music and leave the game running while I do other things to listen to it.

Always use starter, here.
Also I usually pick up Sandslash.
- Talk to every NPC
- Check every bin
- Always move the bicycle to the top of my bag (a habit I got into whilst playing Pokemon Red since there was no register item function)
- Ejaculate onto my screen when trying to catch a legendary Pokemon for good luck
- Always make sure my strongest Pokemon is no more than 5 levels stronger than my weakest
- Battle every trainer

I only do that fourth one.
There will always be at least two spots in the game where I stop and either grind up my current party so everything is the exact same level, or train and evolve a bunch of shit to try it out, then swap out most of my team and grind everything up to the same level.
I always use the early game but pokemon.

Actually, I didn't end up using vivilion, because he was shit. But the rest of them were all hardmen.

money is never a problem in pokemon games and i get so tired of having a cluttered inventory. the item system in pokemon is one of the least streamlined elements.

Also, somehow always end up with Fire, ice, ground, water, electric, flying and psychic in my party no matter what, even if it's combo types.(ex. Marshtomp, wingull, charizard)

I go with different themes for nicknaming pokemon based on their types.

And most other types get names based on the taxonomic group for the real-life plant or animal they're based on.

Ever since my DPPt playthrough where I ended up with half my endgame team Steel type, I've stuck to training them whenever I get the chance.
Catch every pokemon in male if possible
All Pokemon on the team go into regular Pokeballs. Legendaries and shinies go into premier balls.
In-game team consists of the starter, one ghost (fav type), and the rest are from the generation the game is from. Exception for the last rule can be made for Pokemon that have gained an evolution (normal or mega) in that current gen).

I've become more flexible with that when it comes to dual-types though.
