Any essential viewing lists for the whole series? I want to watch it. But I know there is a ton of filler.
I would be interested in this too. Managed to watch until diamond and pearl and couldn't handle it anymore.
Just start watching XY, besides the OS, there's not a lot of stuff

just skip to kalos, you will not lost anything, basically this studio fucked up every bad team plot... until kalos...
I'd say there are varying levels of "essential". For example, you could just skip the episodes where
>no pokemon caught
>no gym badges
>no pokemon evolve
>no pokemon traded
>no new moves learnt
>no pokemon released
>no rival battle
>no league battle
>main character joins/leaves
etc
Or, you could just watch the gym battles and league battles. If you like you could include contest battles.
It really depends on what you want to see.
