Wonder trade your starter. Catch 5 mons, wondertrade them all, and go with that.

I don't know if other people have tried this before, but I have. Basically, you can only use Pokemon that have, or evolve into Pokemon that have, two types. The next Pokemon you catch has to match one of the previous's types. The 3rd has to match 2nd's type, but all 3 can't be the same.

So let's say you only use 4 Pokemon on your team. If your first Pokemon (doesn't have to be your starter) is Fire/Dark, then the 2nd can match either Fire or Dark, but not both. So let's say you choose to match Dark, and you go with Water/Dark. The 3rd Pokemon must match Water. Let's say the 3rd is Water/Flying. The 4th Pokemon must be Flying (and can have a 2nd type if you choose).
