You know, I kind of like the mystery involved with the game sprites. Maybe it's because I never watched the anime or read the manga; the games were my only exposure to Pokemon designs, and each sprite revealed a little more about them. I had no idea Gardevoir had legs and I liked that mystery.
3D models ruined this.

In RS, I thought Hariyama had a big rat head because of the sprite. It took me years to realize it had a tiny little head and no rat nose.

I thought the belly was the rat nose. Since the head didn't have a mouth, I thought it was obscured by the rat rose.
I though Binacle/Barbaracle had a orange clown nose and an angry face. In reality, the orange part is smooth, and it has a neutral expression. The brown "rock" casing around the head gives it the illusion of a nose.
