I looked back at the E3 presentation and there's no name when they enter the town displayed on screen. So weird that we're moving to the next island without even a name for the starting town.
Real world geography is somewhat accurate in the series. Sure. But with that in account, Hawaii is only somewhat south of Japan. Maybe I should go full genwunner and change Kalos to Kanto and ignore the Sevii Islands?

This phrase can mean two things in English. It could be like what OP says or it could be a guide on the two southern islands out of the four. The latter is what I always assumed it meant.
