Its funny because I've since stopped calling Rattata and Pidgey by their name, I'm just like "Oh, theres nothing but a bird or a rat here". But the Pidgey is the best thing in the game to catch for levels.

Listen here fucker, I can see you're only a level 7.
Catch them all. Especially Pidgey and Weedle but Ratatta is good too. They all evolve with very low candies.
Use a Lucky Egg. Evolve all of them during this half hour. Do not bother going Pidgeotto>Pidgeot/Kakuna>Beedrill after the first time you get them (for dex exp), just transfer them after evolving once
