Does Pokemon GO have anything like EVs or IVs?

If not, do you think that plays a part in its popularity? Back in the Red and Blue days when no one knew or cared about the hidden stats of Pokemon, the fun was generated in the chance; the surprise of finding a rare or new Pokemon and using it regardless of how competitively viable it is. Pokemon GO seems to bring back that spirit of finding importance in every single Pokemon instead of mass-eugenics for the sake of competition. If this constitutes a major change in the mainline game series, I think it's a welcome one.

I'm sure 80+% of mainline pokemon players don't know about EVs/IVs anyways. It's more that the mainstream doesn't have time for a 20 hour game nowadays when they have candy crush and farm ville, and increasingly more and more the mainstream will scoff at turn based gameplay

That's probably because you must have played nothing pokémon-related in ages.

I saw someone who figured out that the HP stat, at the very least, is figured out with basically the same formula as the games.

Which makes sense with the comments that PoGO mons may be transferrable to Sun and Moon.

I don't think so Anon. A few generations ago yes, but the Internet is so prolific that eventually a player is going to hear about EVs and IVs and google them. Most people know about them, just not everyone cares about them.

I don't know why you're being so hostile but you're right, I stopped halfway through Omega Ruby because it was so fucking boring and I couldn't be bothered to breed my perfect-IV team all over again.

That's interesting.
