What I actually don't understand is why they didn't take the opportunity of shilling Pikachu so hard to make Raichu badass too. It'd make Pikachu less detestable to the people who hate it, because at least it evolves into something good, while not detracting from the appeal of Pikachu itself (cuddly cute mascot). They can keep showing favoritism without throwing Raichu under the bus.

Honestly, sometimes I forget Raichu even exists. I used to like it as a kid, but later on I pretty much lost interest in the whole Pikachu line.
