You are defending something that you're fine with based on what it is conceptually. You and anyone else who is fine with Dragonite are the minority, so clearly something is wrong visually (very, very clearly wrong) and conceptually. You may be able to call this evolutionary line a wyrm in attempts to justify its design, but regardless of what it is conceptually its design is terribly executed overall. I can accept that the angelic looking parts on Dragonair disappear through evolution, even if I and many others expected them to remain. It's fine becoming more compact, it's fine losing pre-evolutionary aspects, but it's not fine that it looks as stupid as it does when compared to Dragonair. Even had it not been compared to Dragonair, this is literally an orange palette Barney with wings, but I suppose 6 year olds like Barney so maybe that's why you like it so much.
It also sorta reminds me of Homer Simpson, something about it's face and the fat body.
