Now that we're finally moving towards Gen VII with S/M, can we agree that Gen VI (XY, ORAS) was, by far, the overall worst generation we've had so far?
>>27148246
But this exists.
>>27148246
I vote for 2
>>27148246
I agree completely, but this is still a bait thread
3>4>5>2>6>1Emerald with the P/S split patch is the best Pokemon game.
Yes. Even the originals had a complete version.
Game Freak literally gave no shits about Kalos and it shows.
All the features Kalosfags said XY would be known for(customisation, Amie, riding Pokémon) are all being directly improved by SM. XY is 100% obsolete, even by ORAS it was already happening.
>>27148302
I don't mind the map. What's wrong with it besides you not liking it?
>>27148246
It is. I agree. It did introduce some cool things, though, but gen 7 is going to improve them all a lot, probably.
>>27148562
Patrician taste.
>>27148246
I would say 1 is because it's so outdated. These games have always been carried by the merchandising and brand, but the first games especially were.
>>27148562
>>27148645
Fuck off hoennshitters.
>>27148246
>Gen VII
Nice bait, denialfag
V > IV > III > II > I > VI
>>27148691
Agreed. Everyone knows XY and ORAS don't qualify as a gen.
>>27148246
even gamefreak know it was bad
first time they skipped a third version since the creation of the series, they just wanted gen 6 over with.
>>27148246
this is gonna start genwars, but...
I agree 100%
>>27148687
Found the autist. Btw, my favorite is gen 4, mainly the remakes.
>>27148709
>first time they skipped a third version since the creation of the series
Yeah, Gray version was my favorite Gen5 game too.
>>27148709
I'm sure they skipped it because third versions don't sell as well anyways.
>>27148246
Nah, that's still gen 4.
>>27148645
>though, but gen 7 is going to improve them all a lot, probably.
By that logic gen 2 is the worst then.
Worst? Nah.
Most disappointing?
Hell yes.
>>27148562
Agreed for the most part, but Diamond/Pearl were very weak. Platinum was better but eh.
Maybe 5>4, but outside of that, pretty spot on.
Hahahaha
But seriously fuck you, OP
>>27148747
>What is B2W2?
It had the biggest selection of in game mons. The story and difficultly were shit, but at least you didn't have to use the same six shitmons like before the p/s split.
>>27150138
The first direct sequels in the series as opposed to third games.
>>27150138
what is reading comprehension?
what is understanding irony?
No arguments here for XY mostly.
>(OP)
easily the best. Or it would be ...>>27148302
>>27148246
4 > 5 > 2 > 3 > 6 > 1
ORAS was okay, but XY was complete fucking garbage, I wouldn't have even finished the maingame if I hadn't had tournaments to enter. I ended up losing my Pokemon X cartridge on a holiday and I don't even care, I have zero desire to replay that shitty game.I think it was even more of a disappointment because I was absolutely thrilled with Black/White.
>>27150189
>>27150190
Yeah my bad, they were the third and fourth games instead of just the third. So sorry <:(((((
>>27148246
Replaying XY now, still retains a lot of my gripes but it does offer a ton of Pokemon variety which I appreciate. But a lot of that comes at the expense of consistency.
Like, I'm on route 10 right now, and it's got a fuckton of different Pokemon skulking around. Snubbull, Hawlucha, Eevee, Houndour, Golette, it's bustling with different types. But most of these Pokemon are going to stay on this route and never be seen in the wild again as I progress. Meanwhile in other games I was dealing with the local rodents and birds on 90% of the routes, which was a bit annoying but at least it gave the impression that these Pokemon were widespread and actually common instead of arbitrarily isolated on one side of town.

This. 5 makes me sad because the game actually took the story in an interesting direction and the designs were great.
Then X and Y hit and Team Flare was a complete joke and all your rivals were shit. Story was a joke and the designs were unimpressive.
Also, after the hard mode of B2/W2, X and Y was so horribly easy that it bored me to tears. I know Pokemon isn't really supposed to be 'difficult', but God damn at least give the gym leaders enough Pokemon to keep me awake.
>>27148700
I can agree with this.
Hopefully VII will do to VI what V did to IV.
>>27150773
I never realized the difference of having one extra Pokemon on a gym leader's team made to the difficulty of the game.
I liked the wide mon pool of XY,even if it was mostly old mons.
>>27150598
I can jive with this
>>27150881
Tate and Liza Emerald vs ORAS
>>27150676
Out finally put into words a major gripe I had with Kalos' dex
4th gen was worse.
It's a shit stain.
>>27150976
D/P were terrible indeed, but Platinum fixed them so perfectly that it's still the best game so far. That generation also had HG/SS and you know how good those are.
>>27150966
Gen 6 cared way more about shoving as many Pokemon in the game as possible than they did making a thematic and appropriate distribution of types.
Definitely.
XY is an unfinished mess that advertised features that it didn't even have. Everything it introduced was superfluous or stupid save for the long-awaited 3D graphics. The region was a shit-tip which made little sense and was paced terribly. There wasn't a single interesting character and it was the easiest and most casual game yet.
ORAS took away all the best parts of RSE such as the Battle Frontier so it could shoehorn in more cringeworthy Megaevolution nonsense.
The only relatively decent thing Gen 6 did was most of the XY Pokémon designs. Not the Megas though, they all look like trash.

While the new SM trailer looks amazing, seeing all the random Pokemon kind of make me wonder if that will be the standard now
