No New Eeveelutions

The new trailer shows 8 spots for Eevee's evolutions. Meaning Eevee will not receive any more evolutions in SM. Does this disprove any leaks that promised a new evolution?
There were no Eeveelutions in gens 3 and 5. I wasn't expecting anything.

It's not about "Rockruff is a new eeveelution", but "Rockruff is a new kind of Eevee". Those neweeveetheoryfags are speaking about this since a lot of time.

Doubt that the dog will be an eeveelution, but idea that it'l be the next "eevee" I dismissed until the you can see the professor say "you can find him in the grass, caves, sky, and sea". That kind of threw me off.
