Also they're introducing 4-way-battle.

This. They've already showed the in-gam starter selection sequence, in the trailer that revealed the starters. There was nothing there to suggest a missing starter. Of course they could go back and edit it, but that seems unlikely. They would have just revealed the starters without showing the in-game sequence.
