Will PoGo increase sales of mainline Pokémon games?
It greatly increased awareness of and interest in the franchise, so I suppose so, yes.
not a huge amount but yes. there is a small portion of the go audience who will return to the franchise in earnest.
Not everyone will but a large number of people are likely to make the decision to return based on it

Yes, and if they play their cards right, potentially a lot. What they should do is in October, a month before SM comes out, release a major update adding PvP battling, trading, etc., as well as adding in some (not all, maybe 30-50) Gen VII Pokemon, also announcing that Gen I and VII Pokemon can be transferred between Go and SM.
It would get casual players who left Go by that point back into it, simultaneously introducing them to the new Pokemon and promising connectivity with SM. I think it would literally double SM's sales.
