Design-wise one of my favorites, too bad it's useless in battle. It can barely hold its own ingame. Also, that it loses the clock motif, that was cool.

I really don't like this one. The colours are arbitrary and without use. I guess it is supposed to be a wrestling suit but it is too flat to be actual clothing, thus it must be its fur. What animal would have fur painted like a wrestling suit? It's not logical in a biologic point of view.

Moreover it doesn't have a head nor a neck, its lower feet are too small and its upper too big, also they don't match the feet of an actual pig (futhermore what pig runs on 2 feet?). Again too illogical for my taste.
>>

I actually really liked white and it's the only modern game I played. Even if the designs weren't the great, the nostalgia was fun because I had the joy of discovering new regions and pokemon then capturing the olds at the end.

I know everyone hates but I loved the Ice Cream Pokemon's design the best. Musharna was one of my favorites from that gen but the design isn't that great in retrospect.

The ghost types, deer designed Pokemon, and crocodiles were cool too.

Also liked that pyschic cat.

the execution is meh for me, but the idea is great. the emo haircut on the first two is pretty lame, and the spots on the smallest guy are typical of newer games' tendency to clutter the design for no reason. the third guy would be cooler if his 'wings' didn't look like an anime girl's pigtails.

For me pokemon were always animals that you could catch in a real world that allows things like "magic" (using a lot of energy in any given way to produce fire/ice/electricity or move and generate materials like water/stone/wood)

But even in such an "unrealistic" world there is no room for errors like wrong anatomical designs (missing bones that are necessary for movement, having a wrong body mass balance, having body parts without any use) especially if you use an already existing anmial as base design.

I just can't see how emboar could stand straight without falling over or how it would eat with such a mouth, walk with that feet and why it would evolve with that fur pattern.

It just isn't an animal that could live in a "real" world, thus I'm not really interested in catching it.

By the way that is what some people mean when they say things like "overdesigned" and "simplyfied".
They want to have realistic creatures that could appear in the high grass.

>>27130430

I sort of understand this guys post. I can see how the 'magic' of a world should have its limits. Like he said in his post, the 'magic' contained to that world means creatures that can produce water/fire/etc. But that shouldn't extend to an anatomical design that doesn't make sense.

Take Pikachu for example. A mouse like animal that can produce electricity - but that's as far as the magic goes. Its body makes sense in that it looks like it works properly. Its head isn't drawn super big so that it would throw it off balance, it's got drawn on fingers to grab stuff with, etc. I think that's what dude was getting at with his post.

Any fantasy world (ig: other fantasy anime bs) has magic to it, but it's limited. Otherwise you end up with something like Digimon which just got ridiculous and exploded on itself (and even as kids we understood that it got too stupid).

>Why are Dragonite's even smaller?
>How is a seed inserted into Bulbasaur during birth?
>Why is Kangaskhan born with a kid?

>Why would a fish suddenly gain a horn?
>Why isn't Vileplume toppling from the massive flower on its head? Its legs are way too stubby
>How is Chansey even capable of holding bandages, syringes or anything that helps it nurse other Pokemon? Its hands are literal stubs. No fingers or anything

>>
>>27131978
Maybe Dugtrio has an abrasive skin? Scratch could just be rubbing against the foe. And maybe Goldeen and Seaking use the horn for defense against Tentacruel? The big red things are eyes, and I'd like to avoid being stabbed in the eye.
>>
As a genwunner, i must admit there are very few pokemon in any generation that i don't like.
>>
>>27131283
I played red in fourth grade. By the time sixth grade rolled around, Pokemon was no longer considered cool and the community around it lost a lot of steam. The meetups at books a million on the weekends went from block party to boring. Most people I knew who rode the fad of red and blue had moved on. Pikablu, togepi (who was lame but you hoped the evolution would rock), and the new legendaries were the only Pokemon a hardcore genwunner would feel any nostalgia for. Even then it isn't much of a connection, since we didn't play the games.

Not even a genwunner but lets go, can't counter all of them but

>seed inserted into Bulbasaur
symbiotic relationship, roots tap into the bloodstream, pick ups neurochemicals that allow Bulbasaur to control it to an extent

>Kangaskhan born with a kid
not an issue in gen1, so they don't have to counter it

>Tauros has three tails
If we can believe that a lizard might breathe fire, or have a fire on the end of its tail, we can believe that a bull might have three tails

>How are Dugtrio even capable of Scratch
tiny, tiny claws, hidden under fur
>are they bound together
it is a mystery

>why would a fish suddenly gain a horn
why would a deer suddenly gain antlers
plus, Goldeen has a horn already anyway

>how does Vileplume hold itself up with its stubby legs
the flower doesn't weigh much compared to the body, giving it a relatively low center of gravity

>Chansey hands are literal stubs
>Charizard / Dragonite wings too small
you got me there, at this point I gotta just say its a cartoon, man

>Onix horn
aren't you more concerned with the concept of a snake made out of sentient rocks

>Why are Charizard's wings too small for its size?
Can't learn fly.

>Why are Dragonite's even smaller?
Agreed

>How is a seed inserted into Bulbasaur during birth?
It isn't, it's some sort of symbiosis after the birth.

>Why is Kangaskhan born with a kid?
Again it isn't. The kid is the kid of the adult kangashkhan.

>Why does Tauros have three tails? What is the purpose of that? Why would, to use his own words, an "animal that you could catch in a real world" have three tails?
Maybe to impress Miltanks and intimidate other Tauros.

>How are Dugtrio even capable of moves like scratch? Are they bound together?
Maybe they use stones to scratch?

>How is Onix's head horn letting him tunnel properly? Wouldn't it have to face forward to let him burrow effectively and not stick out perpendicularly to its body?
Again intimidate reasons. Also it doesn't dig but rather move the ground using pokemon magic.

>Why would a fish suddenly gain a horn?
There are irl fishes that do that.

>Why isn't Vileplume toppling from the massive flower on its head? Its legs are way too stubby
It's not wood/meat/stone/bones/steel but a flower. Flowers are light in general, but you have a point there. I love all grass types though (fuck the grass monkey), so I have a hard time disliking it.

>How is Chansey even capable of holding bandages, syringes or anything that helps it nurse other Pokemon? Its hands are literal stubs. No fingers or anything
It learns certain attacks that do the job. They don't need to use their hands to inject something.
>Anime Canon

>How is Bellsprout capable of supporting itself with a stem that looks more like a slender vine?
Grass doesn't weight much and bellsprout chills in the earth all day anyway.

>Why would an animal have boxing skirts?
