I don't get how there can be an entire species that just found pikachu rubbish to wear. Not just nay rubbish, pikachu rubbish. Like that's just in their biology. That seems really silly. I'll only be able to accept this if there are 1 catchable one in the game.

plenty of pokemon do that. i'm guessing it COULD also be the Rotom of its generation and while you'll be able to hatch eggs from it, it's likely there will only be one in some ingame event and won't be able to be caught in tall grass

This is like saying there could only be one haunted Teddy bear or Barbie doll in our reality when there's tons and tons made and tossed out every day. Pikachu is the single most popular Pokemon, it's be more unbelievable for there to be any number of mimics for any other Pokemon.
Who knows the Pokemon world might have landfills of rejected Pikachu merchandise made cheaply from Poke-China sweatshops

Pikachu is so popular even though they aren't even found in Unova there were decorations based on them in the theme parks.

The lore specifically states they infested Pikachu merchandise that was popular 20 years ago because they want to be adored like the toy was. The fact that they were able to infest the toy means that the children threw them out a long time ago and they're already been long abandoned and no longer cared about.
