Now you go out and catch pokemon and explore your town. Pokestops can be activated when you're close enough that they change shape. Flick the circular pic in the middle and get free pokeballs and stuff. They reset after like 15 min or something. Catch pokemon, figure what you'll keep and "transfer" the rest. Transfer means grind it up for resouces. Spend recources to evolve the one you didnt grind into meat. At trainer level five you pick Instinct and take all the gyms in your area.

I heard upgrading your pokemon is better before you evolve them, and not after you evolve them. Is that true? I don't have a good understanding of the mechanics

Not OP here, but haven't been playing for long and have yet to take on a Gym or evolve any Pokémon. Should I evolve Pokémon first or level them up before evolving? Does it affect their moves at all?
Also, I noticed that Quick Attack had lower power than Tackle. Does Quick attack still hit faster?
